Pacioli's treatise, fully translated, is a gem.
This book is a gem for anyone confused by introductory accounting and bookkeeping books, as I have been, for many decades. Pacioli's comments on bookkeeping are entirely contained in this book. Furthermore, written in the early 1900's. it compares other early authors, chapter by chapter, with what Pacioli actually said. Pacioli is apparently not the father of accounting. It is more accurate to say he is the first to publish the systematic procedures so crucial to accurate recordkeeping. Pacioli's writings should interest anyone in the field of bookkeeping more so than readers wanting to learn about accounting. Accounting is about reports that interpret bookkeepers' work. Since the book is in the public domain, authors can freely quote from it and use its charts. It was a labor of love the author states, due to the expense of publishing the translation compared to the limited demand for the contents in the early 20th century. I will be publishing a book on Amazon this year, in part based on Pacioli's principles. I hope other authors, particularly those of introductory textbooks, include quotes from Pacioli's work.Joseph G. Whelan Jr., CPA, MBABedford, NY

Bring back the good ole times
A memorable collection of items on the history of Double Entry bookkeeping. Worth consulting for historians. The variety of type fonts only give the collection more historical atmosphere,

Not thrilled.
This book as a compilation of a bunch of photocopies from other sources. It's near impossible to read because it isn't formatted well or organized in a way that's easy to follow. I don't know if I should be upset at myself for not finding out what this was or upset at the publisher for even bothering to sell a book like this. I can't comment on the subject matter because I once I realized I'd be fighting to make sense of the information due to horrible layout I put the book away.
