Loved it.
I have read many of her other books and loved them. I wasn't so sure about this at first because I haven't been exposed to much steampunk, but I loved it. I love the combination of the history, technology, and mystical all in a fairytale remake. Masterfully done. I am looking forward to more steampunk books by this author and am going to give more if this genre a try. To Ms. Allen. I can't thank you enough for a good clean book. You just show that a story can be wonderfully enhanced by letting it clean

steampunk (clean) regency romance
I'm so glad Nancy Allen Campbell wrote another steampunk regency romance book! I greatly enjoyed her first one, Beauty and the Clockwork Beast. This story takes place mostly while flying on a dirigible to the Caribbean, a fun change of setting. As Captain Daniel Pickett and Dr. Isla Cooper work out their differences, you can see how well they're meant for each other. I can't wait for the next book in this world!

A great world and an intriguing story. It’s just lacking in interesting main characters.
As with the first installment of this series, the author presents us with a deep and interesting steampunk world. Her writing is detailed and suspenseful in all the right places. She wrote a story that could have easily been overly convoluted and confusing, and made it cohesive and intriguing. The parts I found lacking were the main characters. The heroine is too perfect for my tastes. Her flaws are being too passionate, being too selfless, and being too brave, which don’t really seem like real flaws to me. Pretty much everyone loves her immediately. She has an interesting back story, and there is a way to make a talented, confident character work, but for her, it was kind of a miss.As for the main hero, there’s not a whole lot I can say about his character. You can sum him up as “big man wants to protect lady he’s only known for a couple of days.” Once again, he had an interesting back story, but I felt like his character needed to be fleshed out more.THAT BEING SAID... there is one side character that is introduced that I loved. If you’ve read the book, you’ll know who I’m talking about. He’s got a great backstory and he makes for an appealing, flawed character. I found myself wishing he was the focus of the story. So, overall, a great world and an intriguing story. It’s just lacking in interesting main characters.

Perfect for steampunk fans, clean romance fans, or of course, Nancy Campbell Allen's fans.
I absolutely love fairy tale retellings, and I also really enjoy all of Nancy Campbell Allen's books that I've read. I'm not terribly familiar with steampunk other than this series or a lot or paranormal but this series is amazing and even without background in the genre can be read and thoroughly enjoyed.Mysterious, clean romance, a little violent, very involved in figuring out all the details and learning what everything means, but as with most effort, well rewarded in the end with a story and characters that will stick with you.I also am happy that this is part of a series. I read the first one a few years ago and am more motivated now to read more than I was before.Definitely recommend.

Great Story!!!!
Absolutely loved it!!!!! It’s a very different type of style and story than I would normally read, but the author has found a way to make it such an engaging and enjoyable read . I couldn’t put it down! It’s also a clean a read - which is very important to me.

The rating reflects that all elements were present that i!like in story. I !ike adventure, complexed character, a hint of fantasy, humor,(which there was plenty) and romance. The dept of character was amazing. I !I've the blending of the two eras.I was sorry there was not narration. I m very dyslexic so narration really helpsThanks for your inventive story writing , Nancy

Great fun!
This fairy tale adaptation (of one of my favorite fairy tales!) is truly unique. Allen's steampunk novels are the first I've read and were great fun, full of laser guns, airships, automatons, and girls in corsets! The surprise ending (for me, anyway) was truly satisfying. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to try steampunk. It's well-written, entertaining, and even better, clean!

Clean steampunk story!
A quick, real fun steampunk story. Clean romance, some kissing. Fun, great leading characters with a mystery to solve.
