It's the only blanket out there with an easy controller
It's the middle of the night, you are half asleep and need more/less heat. You reach over and feel for the control, it's got buttons - 20 different heat settings. Which setting is it? You touch one of the buttons and the light comes on, you squint and see that it's at 5 or something and you need it at 8. You hit the up button and the controller clicks each time it goes up. It was actually 6 because you can't see well. So you click down. You think you got it right as you look at it without your glasses. But your wife next to you hears the clicks and asks, "What are doing in the middle of the night???" You mumble something and then the control falls off the table on to the floor. By then everyone's wide awake, etc.All blankets have some or all of these annoying features but not the Biddeford. If you find the controller in the middle of the night by touch only, you're good. It's illuminated at all times in case you need to know the setting. It is super easy and 100% quiet to rotate the huge dial CW or CCW. It doesn't get any easier or quieter.A very important feature is the length of the control wire - it's plenty long enough to go down the bed post at the rear and up at the front post to the bedside table. All controllers can slip on a smooth surface and wind up on the floor. To fix this, put a couple of wads of "Simply Tacky" that sells online or at a Hobby Lobby. This removable putty keeps the controller in place so when you are groping blindly with your hand in the middle of night, you won't knock it off onto the floor. We got ours on sale for about $60. If it lasts 5 or 10 years, we're good and will just buy another.DO NOT WASH ELECTRIC BLANKETS EVEN THOUGH THEY SAY IT'S OK. They will last much longer if you don't and it shouldn't be necessary unless you sleep with animals that shed or throw-up at night. If you must have animals in bed, be sure to always put a light blanket over the electric blanket and that will help protect it.Another feature is that the blanket doesn't slide around like some do.

Warms my heart! and my butt!
I really like this blanket and it's pretty warm. I even tracked how long it takes to heat up which is about 8° every 5 minutes. One thing to know is that it's kind of a refractory heat, if you just touch the blanket it won't feel hot but if you're under it are laying on it you feel the warmth. On cold days I keep it at 5, which holds at about 88°- very warm. On cool days about a 2. which holds it at about 72°.I really like the design of the controller which sits on top of a nightstand very easily and stays there. The cord is long enough to reach from the edge of the bed to the nightstand and I don't have to hunt for the controller in the middle of the night. I bought this for the 10-hour on time, though I think it's more of a 7 to 8 hour on time. My only negative comment is that there is no indicator on the controller when the heat goes off. The power switch is on it stays lit regardless of whether it is heating or not. I think it should blink or turn off when the time is up so you know to turn it back on. It's a minor complaint and I just flip the switch.Since it's come into my home my pets have rarely left it and love it too. I use mine underneath my fitted sheet as more of a mattress heater, but that's mainly because my cat likes to eat blankets and killed my last two electric blankets. lolThe price has gone up 65% since I bought mine just two weeks ago. It still seems to be a good value though not as good as it was when I bought mine. I came back to buy another one but am going to wait to see if it goes back on sale.

I like this brand
I had a Biddeford blanket that stopped working after many years, so I looked at Amazon to get a new blanket. I ordered one from a different brand and was very disappointed. It was small, with an even smaller heated area, ridiculously small. So I returned it and ordered a Biddeford. It is sized right to fit my bed, a true queen-sized blanket, with a large heated area. It doesn't get quite as hot as my previous Biddeford, but it is till nice and warm. Also, I use a smart plug to turn the blanket on remotely 30 minutes before bed, but all the blankets I saw on Amazon that were not Biddeford seem to have controllers that necessitate a button press to turn on if its power supply is cut off and then on again by a smart plug, but the Biddeford controller does not. it works perfectly with a smart plug.
