Great for it's intended Purpose, EVEN BETTER for a Electronics Engineer or Maker!!!!
Okay, it looks like a tumor! Well it is NOT a tumor, it is some pretty amazing hardware serving a very simple purpose, but here is the best part: it is 15 dollars. So I cannot find ANYONE ELSE who has torn this guy down, so I will tell you my experance and what is inside.3 Boards not counting the 3S Balancing board on the 4AH 3S Pack. 11.1v-12.6v 3S with Balacing and Protection. (This is itself a module in shrink wrap.AC to RAIL Voltage Board (This board takes the AC power from the Wall and makes it so the Transfer board can use it to charge the battery, and drive the DC to AC Power Invert-er Board.Transfer board, this board has some circuitry on it, but is a housing for the bridge rectifier, and connects everything via traces, wires, and ICs. It is less packed than the AC-DC or DC-AC boards. Finally the Power Inverter very simlar to what you have in a car/truck/van. Simple Transformer that takes DC and makes 120VAC 45W-65W to power the Apple Adapter. So YES, it takes AC, makes DC, then Takes DC and Makes AC again. So in a way, it is very silly way to create a backup battery, but in another way, it is a goldmine of DIY parts waiting for you to jump in. You can also power anything with the 2 pin AC plug, not just the MacBook. I used mine as a UPS for my Gateway Router/AP Controller and it worked great until I couldn't take it anymore and had to find out what is inside. To be clear, it still works, I just dumped the tumor case, and turned it into a combination SMPS that also makes 19.5v 4A + USB in addition to the AC this unit makes stock. 65watts isn't much for AC appliances, but for things that take AC and make DC like iPhone USB Chargers, it is awesome. So I am buying another and making an instructable on it since no one else has. For 15 bucks this is WAY more than worth it, but be careful it is more than likely cheap because it didn't sell well and it is being liquidated. Try and be fair and not buy them all or ruin a good thing. So before you even think about opening this thing up, the Wires from the AC board to the AC connectors are NOT soldered. They have a very strange unsafe Paste that connects them NOT a solder weld. It comes off very easily and could injure you, in my opinion all the more reason to fix that factory oversight and do it right. Again electronics are dangerous, but if your a DIY guy, this is the one to grab. This works almost identical to a VERY expensive Double Conversion commercial UPS for again 15 dollars, not 600. Way different scope of power, but again, it is interestingWhen working with electronics do not open anything you do not understand, or cannot evaluation the danger of. This unit has constant AC in 2 forms as well as a Lithium Battery. Be Safe and if you have doubts, don't do it.

See Pic. Does not charge THIS 13" 60W Macbook Pro. So, what model does it in fact charge?
as you can see in my pic, the battery is all charged up, I plugged it into my 60w mag safe charter and powered the baby right up - so far so good. But then when I plugged the now fully charged battery up to my "as advertised" right in the title of the item, 13" Macbook pro with 60w adapter - NO JUICE, NO POWER, NOTHING. So, don't waste your money, these guys don't know what hardware or software this is really compatible with. You might get lucky and it works and then you might upgrade your software or something and it won't.

Nice little charger
I just got it so can’t really review the battery life but I can review the seller it came from. This thing was 100% used the box looked like it came from a flood. It also smelled of women’s perfume so heavily my kids thought someone was at our house. The plastic sticker was on it but clearly someone had saved it and put it back on. I tested the chugplug and it does work I have a MacBook Air 11” and it shows as plugged in but not charging which is fine by me as long as in a pinch I can get power. The unit is very light weight and fits nicely in my book bag. Originally the price was 150 so for 15 bucks you can’t complain.**UPDATE**Got a new apple charger and battery is now charging when using the chugplug, next update will be in a few months to see how the battery lasts on the chugplug.

Good for 30-45 min of power.
Sadly, this battery pack needs to step-up the battery voltage to 120V so that your Mac power adapter can bring it back down to laptop power levels. All of this DC → AC → DC conversion wastes energy and generates heat. As a result, you only get about 30-45 minutes of power, and the battery gets REALLY HOT. On the other hand, I got it really cheap ($24), and it's light weight.

Get one while you can
This is an awesome piece of kit for $11. I'm not sure how long these will be around but if you have an 11"-13" MacBook Air/Pro you will be well served by this battery. I was hoping to find a good replacement for my 2012 2GHz i7 MacBook Air but no laptop really scratched the itch, so I settled on buying this battery and a replacement internal battery. All I really wanted was more battery life and between this and the fresh/larger internal battery I should see about 9-10 hours of total battery life. That's more than enough for frequent cross country flights where the power outlets in the airport can be impossible to find or unavailable and iffy on the flight itself.December 2018 Update: My Chug Plugs are still cruising along with my new 2018 MacBook Air. The USB charging brick plugs right in and works just the same.

Bulky and heavy but for the price and convenience, well worth it on a long flight.
Took this on a 13 hour flight from Newark to Hong Kong. Once my macbook air hit 5%, I plugged it into the ChugPlug. I kept using the computer while it was charging, so it ultimately only charged to 68% before it was empty. But that gave me another 3 hours of usage so I was quite happy. It's bulky and heavy and in an economy seat it's hard to maneuver the laptop, macbook air charger and the ChugPlug without something dropping onto your sleeping neighbor but it's well worth it for an extra 3 hours of computer time.

Great unit! Not an everyday item for most people.
Let me first say that I don't carry this around every day. I bought this for travel or when I know I'll be away from the office and might not have access to power easily. I have a newer Macbook Retina and it does give me a bump up of about 30% (e.g. from 20% to 50% on the battery indicator). I saw this offered on a deal website and checked Amazon and found it cheaper here.Pros:* Only device that I've found for extra power for a Macbook* Fits inline with my normal Mac power cable(s)* Charges Mac while using your Mac* Nice travel sleeve to keep it looking newCons:* Heavy - it is a large battery and it does take up some space in your carry-onOverall this is a great unit. As battery technology emerges I hope they develop a version that is lighter and thinner. I would love to test such a unit.Four star rating is based upon weight of the unit during travel.

A little extra juice when you need it.
I have an older MacBook Air that has been through a lot of charging cycles and doesn't hold as much charge as it used to. It really is good to know that even if I reach the end of my laptop's battery life, I can get a few extra hours with the ChugPlug. It holds a charge well. Even if I haven't used it for a week, it still has a full charge, and once I use it, it's easy to charge it at work or overnight at home. Great product!

Preis-/Leistung absolut in Ordnung.

Great Product (smaller then it looks)
I am in University right now and i think its great for a quick charge. I have a Macbook pro Retina 13'' and it fills up about 20-30%. its a little over priced but in a pinch its really great!
