Fur-baby shoes
Muttluks are wonderful! They protect paws from thorns, grass seeds and hot pavement. Additionally, they protect and keep paws dry when walking in snow and ice.We started using fleece-lined Muttluks some years back to protect our dog’s paws from sharp ice and salted snow. The boots performed beautifully. Dog’s paws were warm and dry at the end of our walks. We purchased our second pair of fleece-lined Muttluks when we moved to south Texas where there are all manner of prickly seeds and thorns to get wedged in a dog’s paws. The boots have kept our dog’s paws safe and thorn free.In south Texas, the temperatures and pavement really get hot. Before the boots, my dog chewed and licked at his paws which seemed constantly irritated. Since wearing the boots, he no longer obsessively chews or licks his paws. Although my dog is wearing fleece-lined boots, his paws are not overheated after walking. The measuring guide is easy to follow and accurate. To put the boots on, I have my dog lay down on his side. It is then easy to slide the boots on. I’ve had no problem with the boots falling off.LOVE these boots and HIGHLY recommend.

Saved us during Winter 2015. I cannot recommend more highly!!!
I cannot recommend these boots more highly. Let me start by saying that I had bought them before and returned them. I thought that they were difficult to get on and keep on and when my dog tried to walk in them his reaction was so absurd I thought it wasn't even worth trying further. Then this past winter happened. We had an unprecedented amount of snow and it was bitterly cold for almost 2 months. My dog doesn't want to go to the bathroom in his yard and to be honest, he couldn't anyway because of all of the snow. We had to get out onto the road. This quickly became a problem because the cold would burn his paws and after just a block of walking he would stop and pick up his paws for me to rub. I returned to Facebook, desperate for a solution.A friend immediately recommended the Muttlucks. I scoffed and said that I had already tried them and they were ridiculous. He laughed at me and said that I must have bought the wrong size, directing me to the company website for sizing instructions and tips on how to acclimate your dog to wearing the boots. After reading the product information and recommendations in detail (the earlier pair I had bought retail at a pet supply store) I decided to give them another chance. The size needed and color I preferred was not available from the manufacturer, so I came here to Amazon and found a pair. Had I bought them earlier in the season, I could have bought them for half the cost, but I was clearly not the only dog owner looking for a solution for frozen paws in 2015. I worried again if this was going to be an expensive failure.Putting them on for the first time was just hysterical. My dog was reasonably compliant but he had this...what are you doing to me....expression on his face that was just pathetic and very funny. The manufacturer instructions were to get them on all the way and then use the velcro straps to secure them tightly. I learned that really, the tighter the better. I also kept the knit sock portion pulled all the way up his leg, which was very silly looking, but this was all about function over form. When he took his first steps in the kitchen with the Muttluks on, I was pretty skeptical. He was walking like Bambi when he first stands up. But others had told me that the key was to get your dog out and moving with them on. And so we did. The first walk was not easy. He was walking like Bambi and I kept worrying that the boots were going to fall off. They didn't. The walking got better as he realized that he was outside and his paws were not cold. The next day it was a little easier getting the boots on. By the end of 5 days, he was really fine with me putting the boots on. I think the association with boots and walk had already been established. We walked every day for about an hour with the boots on (and a coat) through March. After the snow had melted quite a bit and it was not as bitterly cold, we still used the boots because they were now keeping his paws dry and preventing all of the snow, ice melt and chemical and winter slop from being tracked into the house. I didn't see any other dog wearing boots this winter, but we were stopped regularly by other dog owners asking about how they worked, did my dog like them, etc. When we went to the vets for an annual physical, his vet was so impressed with the product and how my dog wore and walked in them that he took him to two other examining rooms to show other dog owners who had been lamenting the difficulty getting their dogs out in the winter, what they looked like and how they worked.I washed them twice. Once midway through the winter and another time at the end of the season. They had plenty of mileage on them but stood up to laundering well and we are all set for next winter. I am so happy with my purchase and I really recommend them enthusiastically to any dog owner. One bit of advice - buy them before the season starts. You will be able to find the size and color you want and will most likely not have to pay the premium price you will have to pay if the weather increases demand. That said, I think these Muttluks were worth every penny that I paid for them two times over this past season.

Great at protecting the dog's paws
The product has a couple of tears after only a couple of weeks. They have had some hard wear in the snow and ice.

Mukluks life hack: These CAN be waterproofed!
Mukluks life hack: These CAN be waterproofed! One of my dogs get's hotspots on his feet and during the winter months with snow, salt, and chemicals applied to the NYC sidewalks and streets life for his footies can be painful. I've searched everywhere for something that would be comfortable to wear, wouldn't fall off and would protect against salt and chemicals with no avail.Mukluks by far are the best boots I've found they fit him well and don't fall off on walks but their NOT waterproof. As the saying goes necessity (desperation) is the mother of invention. I happened to have a bar of Otter Wax i had used to waterproof some material. For all four boots I'm not going to lie it took about 2 hours but it was well worth it! Below are all the steps i used. I'm confident my boy's feet would stay dry walking through small puddles but i think they would leak if fully submerged. As with any other waterproofing this would require maintenance of keeping them clean, washing with leather soap and re- waterproofing on occasion. The Otter Was doesn't stretch the material and as time goes by like with any other waterproofing product the more you maintain and reapply the more waterproof the item becomes.Note: The company suggests putting them in the washer... after the wax is applied that would be a really bad idea.Needed: Hair dryer, Ottor wax, a soft toothbrush, some ragsStep one: unwrap the velco tabs and move them aside so they don't get dirty (the black leather does bleed a little (not much)Step two: use a hair dryer to warm (I used high heat) the soles including the seamed areas.Step three: rub the wax into the leather and make sure to get plenty on the seams If you get any on the front heat the wax; it wipes off.I used a soft toothbrush to rub the wax into the seams as well as into the leather itself. reheat, reapply wax until the rigid and rough leather surfaceis %100 percent smooth. It took about 30 min per boot but again for us it was well worth it. although i did waterproof the seams i was careful not to get wax on the front nylon portion although if i needed I'll go back and rework that area.I posted pics below... The boot on the right hasn't been touched. The boot in the middle is finished and the one on the left is almost finished. After i was finished i put them in the sink and left them there to test my handy work and they held up as expected! There are plenty of how to videos on you tube you can find that may help. I'll add that the boots actually being water proof depends entirely on your handy work. For many it might not be worth the two hours and maintaining the waterproofing but for us it is.

Good for cold weather
Purchased Nov. 2022, this past season. Our Itty Bitty size fit our 7-lbMaltipoo. We walk her outdoors only when the temp is above 35 which is not that often in Chicago. Nonetheless, the tips of all four boots have worn out. I didn't expect this to happen with $60 boots. Is there anything I can do about this situation?

Best ive found but needs work
It's slippery for snow use... not water proof in rain but it's worked for 1 entire season and now falling apart at seams. Too expensive for short term use and its issues

Not great for very small dogs
I did a lot of research as one of my tiny dogs has corns on all 4 feet yet is young and desperate to run and play on walks. These boots came out as the top hard wearing outside active dog boots. I carefully measured as manufacturers guidelines drawing on paper and measuring. These boots arrive quickly and well packaged, I put them on and yes if the Velcro is firm they don't fall off BUT they slip down the foot only 05-1cm but if you are only 4kg this is a lot and means you trip over your feet badly. My poor puppy was confused and kept trying to run or trot but kept falling over the toes of the boots. He is a tiny under sized cavalier. So I tried them on my 7.5kg cavalier and they fitted her much better so I was going to order the next size down (itty bitty instead of XXSmall) I then checked my bigger cavalier and found again the tip of the boot had slipped down about 0.5cm on each foot but because she was a bit taller than the puppy she managed with the extra length on the toe better.. Also the socks that go up the leg are very long, again on the bigger cavalier (who is still small at 7.5kg) they came to just below her knee on the front feet, on my smaller cavalier they came all the way up to his little elbows. So I will keep these boots in case of an injury on one of my normal sized cavalier but won't be getting the smaller size for the tiny dog as he needs boots that don't slip even a tiny bit as he will just fall over. I have only tested these boots for about 10 minutes on a walk on a beach with the tiny dog and round the house with the bigger cavalier. So yes consider these boots if you have a 7kg dog or bigger unless he or she is a low rider with very short legs then avoid

They were great, large enough to get over has paws easily ...
I ordered these on 22/11/15 for my 12 year old rescue boxer, who had very swollen paws that are prone to infection as a result of neglect. They were great, large enough to get over has paws easily and they stayed on. They were much better than his previous boots that were small, difficult to get on and easy for him to get off. Unfortunately 3 of the 4 boots have developed holes at the front on or near the seams. They are now not fit for purpose. I am so disappointed as they were not cheap and are utterly useless at protecting my old boys damaged, fragile paws.

Good fitting and sturdy - highly recommended.
There are many cheap dog boots on the market but in my experience they are cheap for a reason - they are just not substantial enough to cope and quickly fall apart. Muttluks are the best available and although they cost a lot more than many other makes, you save in the long run. A friend bought cheap boots for her dog and has already replaced them 3 times. My Muttluks still look like new!
