Of course you want these to smell as that's what will keep the moths away. But don't let other reviews make you think they smell only like lavender. They have less powerful scent than regular mothballs, which is great. But still do have that type of smell, especially when opened. I like them though and am buying another package. They seem to work, definitely less pungent/overpowering vs regular moth balls, and I love they have wrapper around each one so that they are easy to put inside areas and take out plus don't rest directly on the clothes. Recommend, but just realize the odor is pretty strong at first and my clothes took on the smell.

If you leave the product in it's wrapping I can put it in storage containers non-food. I remove the wrapping and place it in the bottom of my plastic linedtrash basket. Pleasant fragrance.

Got the raccoon outta my storage room. He does not like the smell.

These smell very nice and not as overpowering as other moth ball type products. I feel they are a little pricey for the number that you get though.
