As Always.....Great!
Wick and Rennie are a delightful pair. This one is the last of Brown's books for me. Not my favorite, but still a solid story with just the right twists and turns to keep me on the edge. My only problem with the story relates to Rennie's self blame for the death of her father's partner. As a doctor, she should surely be cognizant of the clear abuse she endured as a child. This book was written when child sexual abuse was openly acknowledged, so I am having difficulty with Brown's dropping the ball. Still enjoyed it though.

THE CRUSH by Sandra Brown ranks as one of her best. The two main characters were developed well and quickly brought to life through Brown’s genius. The story begins with Dr. Rennie Newton, a brilliant and beautiful surgeon, performing her civic duty as foreperson on a jury that acquits a well known and life-long contract killer, Ricky Lozada. Days after the trial ended, Dr. Newton’s colleague and fellow surgeon, Dr. Lee Howell, is found murdered in the hospital parking lot. Doctors Newton and Howell had been in competition for the job as chief of surgery at the hospital. An undercurrent builds against Dr. Newton as the person somehow responsible for the demise of Dr. Howell. During Lozada’s trial he had become obsessed with foreperson, Dr. Rennie Newton. Following his acquittal, he stalked her, showered her with dozens of unwanted roses, phone calls and scary love notes. Fort Worth PD detective, Oren Wesley, suspects Dr. Newton’s involvement in the Howell murder and asks former detective, Wick Threadgill, who is on temporary suspension, to come back to Fort Worth and assist him in solving Dr. Howell’s murder. Wesley also suspects Lozada is involved in Howell’s murder. Wick has good reason to return in that Lozada is suspected of murdering his brother, Joe, a FWPD detective months earlier. Wick Threadgill soon becomes romantically involved with Dr. Rennie Newton. This complicates and impedes the FWPD’s pursuit of the case. Without giving away the twists and turns and the excitement that comes with each page, I will say only that I very much enjoyed the narrative and the characters who I hope Sandra Brown chooses to use again in a follow up sequel. It is not a complicated story and has few participants but you will enjoy the mystery and the romance for its simplicity and intrigue. I give the book a 5-star rating.

Don't let the boogie-man get you
Sandra Brown always produces a book full of love and mystery. This is another one of those which is suspenseful, anxiety producing (when you are enthralled) and very well written. Tte plot involves a serial killer who develops a crush on a doctor who is also the romantic subject of a policeman trying to catch the killer. This produces some very interesting twists and turns that will keep the reader entertained as well as on the edge. I really liked the book as an excellent example of the blend of romance and mystery.

Sandra Brown repeats herself again by supplying another great thriller. Filled with excitement
**Bestselling author Sandra Brown repeats herself once again by supplying another great romantic suspense. An excellent read!...........When Wick Treadgill is visited by his best friend and former partner detective Oren Wesley, he is surprised but mostly curious why his friend of many years is there to begin with. After leaving that life behind him as a detective for the Fort Worth Police dept., he was shocked of what his friend was asking him in the first place. Oren said he needed to show him something before he gave a final answer of no. Dr. Rennie Newton was beautiful,Wick thought while spying on her with binoculars in the house across the street. Oren had surveillance on her ever since the big murder trial of Ricky Losada, long-time criminal and contract killer. Being Lozada's nemisis ever since he murdered his brother, Wick agreed to help because it was Rennie and forewoman on the jury that was reponsible for his release. Believing at the time that the prosecutor did not prove their case, what Wick and Oren didn't know was that she was being stalked by Lozada himself. Not only was Dr. Rennie Newton beautiful but she was a well known surgeon among her peers and it was then that Wick forced his presence into her life. He became acquainted with her by accidentally meeting her at a wedding, during walks, and any other excuse he could come up with. Of course in the beginning, Rennie didn't even bat an eyelash. One thing Wick was certain of underneathe all that cool facade, Dr. Newton was hiding something and he was determined to find out what it was. Except he never figured that she would find out what he was doing but she did. Furiouus, she thinks she'll never see him again but much to her surprise and shock, Wick Treadgill winds up on her operating table. Attacked and stabbed in the back by Lozada and leaving Wick for dead in his motel room being discovered by the maid. Now dying and hanging on for dear life, it's up to Rennie to save him and afterwards, she finds herself sitting in a chair and suddenly feeling differently toward the handsome Mr. Treadgill. Why? She promised herself with a past such as hers that romance could never play a part or a role ever in her life. But when Wick slowly gets better, so does his feelings and there was no denying it. Not only does he start to care about this woman but he is going to do everything in his power to protect her. He knows that is why Lozada tried to kill him thinking he's Rennie's lover and to Wick, he hopes that won't be farthest from the truth because he realized that he is falling in love. With the coaxing of Rennie and Oren not to mention his wife Grace, they devise a plan. A plan so out there that it is impossible to know if it will even work. For Oren, he can end his search. As for Wick, he will finally get justice for his brother's murder but for poor Rennie, her heart is about to explode and not only is she terrified of love, but will any man love her back after her dark and ugly secret gets out? Will Wick? As their countdown gets down to zero, so does a cunning fox of a killer for he knows that they have underestimated him and they were all in for a big surprise!.....a great book from miss Brown and impossible to put down!...............thank you♡♡

"beyond a reasonable doubt"
This brings on a whole new facet to jury duty, and completely upends Rennie's well structured life. Another fast paced, nail biter from Sandra Brown. It hurt to have to split it up into more than one reading period! So many elements to this story, but still following the same framework that make all her books so great. Wonderful characters that seem to have no business together, until something forces it. Twists and turns and just when you think you can't hold your breath any longer, boom, she saves you!

Fantastic book.
I loved this book. Loved staying on edge. Ricky Lozano is a hot man but thinks he’s got a crush on Dr. Rennie Newton. Is she a murder suspect? Wick Threadgill isn’t sure but he sure is attracted to her. I didn’t expect to cry but I did several times in this book including their happy ever after. There’s a twist at the end, loved being surprised. I highly recommend this book.

entertaining thriller
This is the first Sandra Brown novel I've read and apparently she has written a lot. I will certaily read more of her books. I really enjoyed this page turner. The story is very gripping and it doesn't ramble on. This is not literature; the characters are stereotypical and the plot unbelievable but nonetheless, it is very enjoyable indeed. What I really hated was the unnecessary sex scenes; I found them embarrassing and had to skip over them as they were so cringey but that was only a very small part of what otherwise was a hugely entertaining, light read.

a little unconvincing
I can't say that this is one of SB's best works. It's ok but not great. We are expected to believe that some mobster falls in love with a juror who he believes steered the rest of the jury to quitting him and then stalks her? And then we are also asked to believe that the juror who's being stalked would actually try to get him acquitted despite suspecting that he shouldn't be free? It doesn't make sense, or rather, it's hard for me to stretch my imagination to allow me to believe this storyline.
