Buy The Breastfeeding Mother's Guide to Making More Milk: Foreword by Martha Sears, RN: Read Kindle Store Reviews - desertcart.com Review: Great Help! - Everything was going great then all of the sudden, practically no milk. I had to start supplimenting with formula. I ordered this book and it's soo informative and easy to understand. The information helped me understand what was going on with my body and nurse my daughter for a while longer. Would be good to read during pregnancy. This way you have the help and information sooner. I was unable to fully nurse my first child due to lack of milk from day one. With my second I was determined to try harder! She was exclusively breastfed until 4 months then my supply dropped at no fault of my own. I wish I had gotten this book sooner! I would have been less stressed out about trying to make milk. The writer is understanding, supportive, and non judgmental. You get all of the information you need and and understanding "friend" to help you through it. Yes, breastfeeding is best but there's no browbeating if it is not right for you. If we have a third child, this book has helped a great deal and I now have more tools to work with from day one! I reccommend this to any woman who wants to breastfeed! Review: This book ROCKS! - This book was an AWESOME READ! I struggled to nurse with my first son because he had a poor latch and was a VERY slow eater - 45 mins+ at each feeding! (Try doing that every 2 hours and you get NOTHING else done in life!) I ended up pumping exclusively for 9 months and it about wore me out. I was a slave to that pump and to the clock! When I got pregnant again I was determined to educate myself about nursing so I could slam dunk the nursing experience with my new baby. I came across this book and read it cover to cover. Let me tell you... it was a GOD SEND. This book had a TON of information in it. My 2nd son is now 8.5 mos old and is a nursing champ! I also started taking Fenugreek daily (2 pills in AM and 2 in PM) from the first week I was home from the hospital. Let me tell you - I am a milk making machine!!! I have about a 4-5 month supply in a deep freezer and most of that came from the extra milk I pumped AFTER NURSINGS. I think because I educated myself and understood the milk making process and how the breasts produce milk I could relax, take it easy and enjoy my nursing relationship with my son.... thus making more milk. It was also a great reference tool many times in the first several months. Nursing is certainly NOT easy for everyone. And it is a huge committment no matter who you are. (I stuggled with the latch with my 2nd son for several weeks. But, I didn't give up & I consulted a professional who helped me fix the problem!) Since reading this book I have purchased 3 more copies to give as baby shower gifts to future nursing mommies and have loaned out my copy to mommies struggling to boost supply now. If you are on the fence about this book... Just get it and read it. You won't be disappointed. The info can only help you. When you are done with it... pass it on and help another mommy out! Also- one more thing... The other book that was great and helped me a lot was Breastfeeding Made Simple: Seven Natural Laws for Nursing Mothers . Get both books and read them! You will be totally set up for a successful feeding experience! Happy Nursing new mommies!

So informative!
I highly recommend this book if you are having issues with milk supply, wondering why your body isn't cooperating or need a voice to tell you that you are not a failure if you are having problems with breastfeeding. There is a lot of info in this book that you will not learn at the hospital, and may not even learn from a lactation consultant. It will help you get to the root of a real reason you may be having issues with your supply and offers possible solutions. Most women have no problems with nursing, but some do, and this book is sensitive to the issue without being preachy and has practical advice. I wish I had this book with my son 10 years ago, it would have made me feel much better about my awful supply since no one seemed to be able to help me mentally or physically with my supply issues. This time around with my daughter, who is 4 months old, is so much better in large part to the information provided in this book. Pair this book with seeing a lactation consultant and I bet your breastfeeding experience will be a successful one!

Good resource
This book is a great resource if you're having substantial problems with milk supply. It's very thorough. I especially loved the tips about dealing with nipple problems - there was one trick in there I didn't know that worked brilliantly with an inverted nipple. However, I just wanted something that could help me boost my supply a little bit for pumping, and it's really not for that. Also, as a caveat, make sure you do have a problem with supply. I thought I did, but it turned out, my baby had gastroreflux and just wanted to eat constantly to deal with that. I had been giving him a bottle because I thought he'd actually exhausted my milk supply (he would cry but still want to nurse, and come on and off the breast). Once that was diagnosed, it turned out I realized supply wasn't the problem.

I cannot recommend this book enough. The ONLY breastfeeding book I would consider essential reading. Really helped me re-establish my milk supply.

This should be required reading for all lactation professionals and LLL leaders. Any mother who has struggled with low supply should also have a copy of this on their shelves. As someone who suffers from Primary Lactation Failure due to Insufficient Glandular Tissue (IGT) I found this book an absolute treasure. From information on various galactagogues, both herbal and medical to phsyical and mental practices that might help with supply; this book has it all. Read it from the beginning, you may think you know how breastfeeding works, but reading it from the beginning allows you to tie in the various suggestions and solutions later on. This covers virtually all legitimate low supply problems and gives evidenced based suggestions and guides on how to fix them. People like myself with IGT will never be cured, but there are plenty of ideas in this book that allow us to maximise the little milk we do produce. All breastfeeding support groups should have a copy of this in their library. For people with physiological disbilities it is incredibly frustrating to hear the usual low supply solutions suggested as if they have a fixable problem. The book addresses so many issues including tongue tie and other milk transfer issues. Cannot recommend it enough!
