I was tasked as the shop diagnostic specialist to figure out the issue with his work. Turns out the little Mark in the shaft really likes the original seal, hell they have been friends since the 1st rotation. When you place a new seal the area the lip touches needs to be flawless (like it was when new). If not, it wears down the seal and leaks. The dude wasn't a total hack, just need to spend a lot more time preparing the surface and not landing the new seal lip on the mark of the old one. Or leave well enough alone like we always did. My customers who followed me from the dealer had a 98 Intrega with 846,000 miles. I've done the belt and related parts 5 times myself.
