Programmable Electric Kettle. This is the PerfecTemp kettle for tea drinkers who want each leaf at its own preset and know one temperature doesn't efficiently brew six different teas. The presets map show 160°F for delicate teas, 175°F for green, 185°F for white, 190°F for oolong, 200°F for French press coffee, and a full boil for black and herbal. One labeled button on this electric tea kettle is faster than learning the numbers. The Cuisinart kettle leaves its 360-degree swivel base for up to two minutes without losing its place, so a mid-brew pour is always an option. Auto shutoff and boil-dry protection guard the hot water kettle, while the stay-cool nonslip handle and dripless spout finish the pour cleanly. The 1.7 L. family-and-guests size uses 1500 W. for a fast heat-up, holding the water with a 30-minute Keep Warm function. The concealed heating element and removable scale filter ensure your fifth cup from these electric kettles pours as clean as the first. The BPA-free stainless steel body features a blue-lit window showing the water level at a glance, and LED controls make operation simple. Perfect for multi-tea households and the loose-leaf curious, this water kettle upgrades your daily routine and is backed by a limited 3-year warranty. ## Features - CONFIDENCE IN EVERY CUP — The preset Cuisinart electric kettle for temperature-true tea drinkers. It brings the water up to the selected temperature pretty quickly, which also reduces the noise. At first, the noise is very low, then it gets louder as the water gets closer to temperature. I just filled it to max with cold filtered water and it took about 5 minutes to hit 200 degrees and only about 3 of that was "noisy," but I could still have a phone conversation a few feet away with no issues. **Q: Have you had a problem with the lettering disappearing from the temperature control and start buttons? I was very disappointed to see this happen after only a few months.** A: Yes, but that was the least of my problems. THIS IS A FIRE HAZZARD!!!! I purchased mine in Jan 2013. It is now May of 2014. On walking thru my kitchen I smelled something that smelled like electrical wire burning. After investigating and shutting off all the breakers to my kitchen, I discovered that my kettle had basically burned up. The kettle was fused to the base and there were black burn marks on my countertop. (I should have noticed this immediately, but my countertops are black granite) I thank God that I was home when this happened and that it didnt happen in the middle of the night and burn our house down with us in it! **Q: Is there any plastic at all, in contact with the tea water?** A: It seems there are 2 places... One down the handle - there is what seems to be a piece of white plastic cover what may cover internally screw that holds bottom of handle, and the other next to nuzzle, a piece around filter that water gets poured outside - the same design I found in my Costco's Hamilton Beach. I'd still consider it a 'minimal impact'(or marginal)... Keep also in mind there are plastics out there with no ''carcinogenic impact'' when in contact with water... It could be down there some kind of silicon as well as can't reach down there. The upper one above the filter that seats in nozzle is very slim. I'd not worry about them anyway for this amount exposed. (if you think cancer stuff. For durability, I bet it's just fine - minimum amount (.01%??)... **Q: Where is this product manufactured?** A: The California warning is on everything in California, including restaurants as you enter. The warning appears to reference the electric cord attached to the base. The same warning is on all the electric pots. None of the other warnings apply to this product. "Electrical Cords California requires the following notice: WARNING: The wires of this product contains chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. Wash hands after handling. " CA government warns us about the hazards inside the car also. I still drive a car. "Motor Vehicles California requires the following notice: WARNING: Motor vehicles contain fuel, oils and fluids, battery posts, terminals and related accessories which contain lead and lead compounds and other chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects and other reproductive harm. These chemicals are found in vehicles, vehicle parts and accessories, both new and as replacements.
