Will sugar take food color?

well, not really, kinda of.. we use this sugar for the rimmers and it works good, it does not color the sugar but the color kinda sticks on the crystals.

Is this peanut and tree nut free?

I assume so, it's sugar. Other than that, I can't say.

Can this be used to sugar coat fresh fruit for decoration on a cake?

Yes... perfect for that use, it is 4-5-6-8x larger then table sugar giving a nice crunch brett / TheSpiceLab
