After purchasing my first iphone, I was paranoid from all the horror stories of people dropping, shattering screens and ruining their expensive phones. After researching nearly every iphone 5 case on the market, it was a decision between the OtterBox Commuter and the Ballistic SG. I tried both cases on my phone and settled on the Ballistic as the Commuter felt bulky for the same amount of perceived protection. I wanted something "grippy" to avoid slipping from my hands along with high protection from drops. I'm not hard on my phone, but it gets tossed in a bag or on a desk regularly, bound to scratch against something. I highly recommend watching the youtube videos on this case to get a feel for the size and fit.The color scheme is bright and eye catching — the design is stylish with just enough "flair" to make it personal.Installing the case is VERY easy. I first applied a Tech Armor screen protector on the screen. Then, I installed the TPU shell, which fit quite snugly on the phone. The outer (pink) shell snaps into place over the TPU shell adding a hard solid backing to it. Note: once this hard shell is on, it's ON. To test if it would fall off, I tried pulling it off. After 5 minutes I finally wrangled it free giving me piece of mind, this shell wasn't going ANYwhere. For those that like to take their phone in and out of a case, this may prove difficult for you.Once everything was on, it felt VERY secure with a bit of weight to it, yet not too bulky. When making a call, your hand will be over the smooth shell, but there's enough grip on the ends to avoid slippage. The corners have "bumpers" on them, but they don't stick out nearly as far as the SG Maxx. The case protects all major areas, but doesn't overkill the slim aesthetic design of the phone.I tried straight and right angle shaped headphone connectors and both will work, just give it a little extra push. If your connector is especially bulky, the TPU case will just "flex" out of the way.Bonus: if you place the phone face down on a hard surface, the front of the case is raised enough that the screen will NOT touch it, avoiding nicks or shattering.I don't place this in my pocket, but I'd imagine it would fit in most baggy jeans or larger pockets without being obnoxious. The grippy TPU corners may gather a bit of lint, but nothing that can't be brushed off. I prefer extra protection of my phone than a little lint.I've recommended this case to everyone.

Really like this case from Ballistic. I feel like it is offering great protection without being overly bulky, and I love the colors and overall look.The case fits my iPhone 5s securely and has not caused any issues with either the new flash or the touch ID on the home button. After installing the case, I did find that redoing my fingerprints with the case in place was helpful because there is a slight rise in the rubber protection around the bottom. Not so much that it didn't work, but the touch ID is working better since redoing my fingerprints with the case in place.The bottom of the rubber portion leaves room for the jacks but as such seems a little too "soft" on the front bottom edge where it is just the rubber. You can move it around quite a bit. I worry a bit if that will offer enough protection, but it's not a huge issue. The corner protection is excellent on the device and makes me feel much more secure. It also feels solid in my hand without being too large. There is also a nice lip around the front for falls face down. My husband has a TechArmor case that's very slim, but I constantly worry if it's enough protection as it doesn't have the front lip or corners. Probably just me, but I prefer the look and feel of something that's showing a bit more protection.My only other glitch has been with the black piece that goes around the camera lens and flash. It has come loose when I take the case apart and I have to be careful to put it back on the hard plastic piece before reassembling. When assembled it stays in place perfectly, so its not a big deal. All of the other button placements are perfect and work well.Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase and would recommend the Ballistic line to anyone searching for a protective cell phone case.

I searched for hours for a case that was both stylish and protective, but hated how expensive and bulky the Otterbox is. Another reviewer listed upwards of ten cases she had tried and tore all of them to pieces, save for this one. I thought the logistics were sound; a silicone portion to absorb shock but also a heavy-duty plastic for structural support and protection. It showed up (on time) and I was BEYOND impressed. It doesn't add nearly as much bulk as an Otterbox but still enough to make me feel like my phone is adaquately protected. Installation was easy and I havent found a need to remove it once. It doesn't interfere much (if at all) with reception so my calls are clear and loading speed is still pretty quick, nor does the phone overheat and I'm a lover of Pandora and Netflix. I like that there's a lip that comes up over the front sides so when I place it face down, the screen isn't touching the surface. I also appreciate that all the sides are protected (except for the speaker in the bottom to not stiffle sound), as some cases worry about the left and right side but forget about the top and bottom of the device. Corners have extra padding to provide cushion for falls. I have yet to drop it from a serious height, but I have been stupid and tossed it onto tables with no fear. I don't feel like I have to craddle my phone like a small child and I love that I didn't have to break the bank to be able to use my iPhone comfortably. It was cheap, it's super cute, and it's going to protect my phone very well. What more could one ask for?I'm sorry for the long review, but if I can help one person like me who searched for HOURS, looking for a cheap yet protective solution, then it was worth it.

Good fit, nice rubbery feel, although the piece at the bottom of the screen between the home button and the charging socket is rather flimsy. Only downside is because of the rubbery case, it is difficult to pull out of your trouser pocket, as the rubber 'sticks' to the cotton material. I have not tried dropping the phone to see whether the case is really as god as it says !!!!

I had gone through a phase of getting cheap phone covers/cases that just weren't offering good protection for my iPhone. My wife had a case from Ballistic that she highly recommended. So I searched for something similar for my phone. When I got the cover and put it on the phone, it felt like I had a new phone. I already had a few chips and scrapes around the edge of the bottom of the phone screen and the Ballistic phone cover covers them up perfectly without affecting usage of the phone. Even with the thickness of the cover, it feels and looks a lot more sturdy and durable than any cover that I've had before. On top of all this, the cover is great value.

I've had this case for over a year, dropped my iPhone so many times in plenty of "noooo" situations where all my friends give me sympathetic looks as if to say "it's going to be broken" yet every time I pick it up it's completely undamaged.
