It’s worked perfectly on night mode for a year. After reading the negative reviews I made a couple of modifications setting it up. First, guessing that a lot of the failures were due to rain water leaking in, I got a cheap clear plastic plant dish at the garden store and glued it upside down on top to keep the rain out. Then I mounted it on top of a 7 foot PVC pipe, hammered a steel spike into the ground, and slipped the pipe over the spike so the sensor would be at a nice height but easy to lift off and adjust. It gets enough sunlight to stay charged, the alarm is the right loudness for a a suburban neighborhood with good-sized yards, and it worked fine through four seasons. Unfortunately, it didn’t protect the hostas and lillies growing behind it!

Unit works well, easy to set up and use.My guess is that this was mainly designed for rural areas to scatter critters from either garden or livestock.However, I live in urban townhouse,and I use it as a passive alert system for my front door.If somebody walks up to my front door at night, The second they reach the top step it starts to flash red which would be a mild deterrent if that person had intentions to break in. I’m sure they would not know if I was alerted to the presents or it was connected to a security company… I believe they would not want to take the chance and simply leave.The alarm isn’t (that) loud... But it would be loud enough to annoy the neighbors if everyone who came to the door triggered it… The flashing red light is perfect for my needs, and the unit works well.

My application is in a vacant building and the main purpose is to frighten intruders. Only downside is once activated it runs until either you shut it off or the battery is dead. This is a problem if the location is unattended. Personally, I would prefer automatic shutoff and reset after a few minutes of activation, like a car alarm.

It is a piece of junk. I got it to ward off rabbits from my garden, it does not work. Not sensitive enough sensor for small creatures. The noise is annoying for humans but apparently not for rabbits or squirrels. Sometime birds set it off and sometime it just goes off without any apparent motion.

I bought a couple of these to keep deer out of my garden. Since I put them up, no more deer. I had used several other devices with no success at all until I bought these. Loud enough and bright enough to scare critters but no problem with my neighbors. Works great for me.Since I wrote my first review the solar cell covers have turned totally white basically making them useless and that took only a few weeks.

Bought almost 4 years ago. Still works great. Have not had Mr bear tear open the garbage since. Very happy customer.

This was just what I was looking for. I bought two and set them for night mode. I've seen it scare deer out of my garden. The alarm is really loud. I put a piece of duct tape over the speaker and now it's just right. I can hear it in my house but does not bother neighbors. Two of them cover my back yard and keep out critters and thieves. Suggest aiming them at backdoors and Windows. They reset automatically after about 45 sec. They are a perfect compliment to home cameras. Mount them next to your camera or dummy camera and sleep easy.

Its loud enough to be heard from the other side of the house but It does Not work very good and It quit workingthis motion detector only detects from 3 feet way, and when I first got It I thought It was dead on arrival and took It apart to see If I could find something wrong but one day I was messing around with It kept pushing the button and It came on but It was difficult to set It to do what I want both lights and sound at the same timeand It has a built In battery and We all know how stupid that Is as Smartphone with built In batteries.eventually the battery died and the solar charging does No good If In the shade where It may have to be.I bought It to scare off opossums, raccoons, armadillos that have cost Me thousands of dollars In damage I can Not even feed My Cat at night because of them and It Is loud enough they take notice of It but they could walk right past It and Not be detected. I recommend Ideaworks Owl detector alarm Its Not very loud but It works much better.

Not sure, never went to my workplace, but we never had an theft coming by, been great. Most theft think it’s connect to monitor alarm company. Also the alarm isn’t that loud as what it statue, but not a big deal. The led light quite bright, so that’s important for us.For winter, I’m not sure yet, most likely we’ll turn it off due more dark during the season.

This item was not easy to set up. It didn’t go off when it was supposed to and we were very disappointed with it.
