Quick read, pleasant and funny tone, and not overwhelming!
I've tried many times to get organized, but either never finished or never started at all. I felt like I hated my house, that I was embarrassed for anyone to see the mess, and that I could never conquer all the piles of clutter. This was the first organization book I finished and didn't feel overwhelmed or too exhausted to even start organizing. Now, I feel like I have a relatively simple plan that can be broken down into bite-size pieces. The author was kind and encouraging but didn't let the reader off the hook to continue bringing in more clutter and procrastinating. I have ADHD and really struggle with procrastination and just getting started, as well as staying focused if I do manage to get started. I also work full-time outside of the home and have a 4-year-old child, and often feel unmotivated and too tired to do anything at the end of the day--so I really like how the author talked about that, the emotional aspects of why it's so hard to get organized, and that it's ok to not FEEL motivated. Our emotions don't have to control our behaviors and choices. These are things I consciously know, but sometimes we need to hear them in a different way, and for me, the author succeeded in that. This information and the specific SORT steps are logical, but that doesn't mean they're common sense! I have hope after reading this book that I can have a more peaceful, organized home that can help many other areas of my life, too. Most importantly, I'm confident that I can develop healthier habits, and teach my daughter them as well, so that she won't have the same struggles as I do.

Develop Organization Habits
In a conversational style, DeMorrow outlines how to develop habits to organize and maintain your space. She begins by explaining how different areas of the brain affect organizing and can lead to common pitfalls, but can also help build habits to achieve goals. The purpose is to create a system based on tasks you can accomplish between 15 minutes to 4 hours. This short book is focused on this overarching system you can use everywhere, but doesn't offer methods specific to certain areas like deciding which system would be best for your medical records, although it does list more online and professional resources. This is a good place to start if you're overwhelmed and unsure of where to start.

SORT and SUCCEED stands out from other books of its kind.....
SORT and SUCCEED stands out from the pile of organizing and decluttering books in my house. It is one of the few that I actually read from cover to cover -- and in about an hour at that. Darla purposely designed the book to be readily digestible. Her writing style is easy to read and her messages her very liberating (she gets into some interesting brain science that helps you understand why you have allowed your stuff to take over), motivating (she shares simple and specific doable techniques -- with manageable time limits and snacks that are also part of the science she cites!), and empowering (she says there is no right or wrong way to organize or correct amount of stuff you have to purge). This book does not go into the minutia of how to organize your sock drawer (although she invites you to join her private Face Book page for such advice and support, if you need it), but gives you the motivational and technical tools to overcome what has been holding you back from organizing up until now. Unlike some other organizers who can be intimidating with their minimalist goals, Darla's goal for us is to be happy in our home. She does not judge or tell you what to keep and/or where to keep it. She helps you decide what you and your family need to be happy in your home -- and get rid of the rest -- in manageable well defined (mini) projects. And, very importantly, in this happiness, she wants us to be able to welcome "angels" into our home whenever we need them. You don't want to turn away your support system at the door because of the chaos in your house. Your style of organizing is not the issue, it should be that it works for you and your family.I definitely feel more motivated to start tackling my mini projects and seeing them amount to an achievable overhaul in my life. I expect that I will also benefit from the support Darla provides on line, as well. Order the affordable Kindle version (to keep down the clutter), pour your favorite beverage and get ready to be motivated and purging within an hour!!!

No one ever accidentally organizes a room
Funny, compassionate and insightful, this book is a quick read but also in depth analysis of why we can't sort out our mess - and how to get past the blocks. The step by step approach appeals immensely as I can see it really working, and really changing the habit of allowing more mess to accumulate after a 'binge' purge! So glad I spent the time to read it.

Great practical and realistic advise
A quick read and practical guide to getting organised in all aspects of life. Darla’s system not only works for physical clutter but also in the digital world we live in. I’d recommend the book to anyone who feels overwhelmed by too much stuff and doesn’t know where and/or how to start. She not only shares a great system but also valuable information why we accumulate things and struggle to let go of them.

You can de-clutter any space by using the steps
Finally a book that sets out the steps to follow. You don't have to do a whole room or house at once. Do a job that lasts no more than 4 hours - you have to eat!

A manageable book on how to declutter & get organised
As a Professional Organiser I have read a fair number of books on decluttering already! I LOVED that this book is short and therefore feels manageable, unlike many others. Darla has a specific technique which makes good sense and isn't complicated.I particularly liked her approach to shopping and think this will help avoid the clutter returning. I also loved her mention of tweaking & twiddling to make sure an area works for you. Definitely worth a read (and can be read in under an hour...!)
