Great Book! This is the best book on the Warre Hive available. A great treatise on raising and managing bee's that anyone can understand. Great pictures, diagrams and plans, extremely well thought out, answered a lot of questions I had with good solutions to problems you might encounter touches on all facets of Warre hive managment. So glad I bought it.

Excellent information for new and old beekeepers.
This should be required reading for all new beekeepers. This book as well as Beekeeping For All. Great information!

A must for Warre hives
A bit hard to read in places but overall a great source of information. Until a better book is released this is THE source for Warre hive management.

Mr. Heaf writes with a direct and engaging style that is a pleasure to read. Look, there are a million opinions out there regarding natural beekeeping ranging from "not treating your bees is tantamount to leaving a domesticated Jersey cow in the badlands to fend for itself" to "treating your bees is tantamount to washing your kids with Purel whenever they look outside".Both POV's have some merit in their own respect but I tend to lean toward, though not fall entirely into, the untreated/natural camp. If it seems rational to you that at some point bees are going to have to evolve to live with varroa and other challenges then this is a lucid and well written treatise on one way to go about it.

Mandatory background reading for anyone thinking about beekeeping.
A very thorough and readable explanation about this different method of keeping bees--a different method which was developed over a lifetime of Warre's curiosity, experimentation, and record keeping. Anyone contemplating about starting beekeeping should read this as part of their education. This book also is very practical. David Heaf very carefully lays out with descriptions and drawings how to construct and operate hives the Abbe Mile Warre figured out long ago. If you already are a beekeeper, read this with an open mind because there are interesting differences and ramifications about keeping bees with the Warre method.

An excellent guide for someone wanting to practice more natural
David Heaf knows the Warre hive through and through. An excellent guide for someone wanting to practice more natural, bee-centric beekeeping.
