50 Hikes in the Adirondacks: Short Walks, Day Trips, and Backpacks Throughout the Park, Fourth Edition Paperback – May 1, 2003

Having just moved here, I needed a book that would take me to out-of-the-way, non-touristy hikes. This one does it. The only drawback is that the directions to the trailheads are not as detailed as I would like.

Haven't used it yet-- but hopefully this book is as useful as it looks! This summer will be the real test.Thanks!

Easy to find the climb you want. organized by area and difficulty with detailed information on getting there and the climb itself.

This book is a little old but not terribly out of date. Gave me some good ideas for day hikes.

This publication was very helpful as we start our new hobby of hiking in the Adirondacks.

Good book with some very good hikes

Find the tips and trail explanations not so easy to follow because I am not that familiar with the Adirondacks.

The 50 Hikes series are popular in the US, but not nearly as good as the earlier the Rother Guides in Europe. The series seems to have been thrown together by a publisher rather grown organically by enthusiasts.Another problem with this book is the Adirondacks. Having hiked extensively in Europe and the Western US, I was distinctly unimpressed. The Adirondacks is convenient for the population of New York, and maybe this is the reason for its popularity.
