I've installed several copies of the SBB-5NMO antenna. I've had one on the roof of my pickup truck for about a decade. Even with some abuse in parking garages, the antenna works well for both transmission and reception. This past year, I installed one on the roof of a short school bus that I'm converting to a camper. Great signal reports from other folks and good reception, too. I've used the antenna with a Kenwood TM-D710 and a Radiodity DB-25. The antenna did well with both radios.

My father has this on his vehicle and Josh from Ham radio Crash Courses always uses this as his baseline antenna for testing other mobile antennas for a reason. Its just the best mobile antenna ever made. The second I put it on my Jeep, i put my Surecom SW33 Plus to measure the VSWR. For the exception of 1 repeater that gave me a 1.45 VSWR, it was 1.01 SWR across the board on all my 2m/70cm repeaters and simplex channels. Just across the board. Receive is just so clean and im told my transmit to many repeaters, 20, 30, 40 Miles away on a 20 watt mobile is strong. You cant go wrong with the Comet SBB-5. Its long lol, but it works. If you switch from Amateur bands to GMRS bands however, don't transmit on this antenna on GMRS. Youll get close to 2.5+ VSWR, use a GMRS dedicated antenna if you do both. Pretty rugged antenna to say the least and a solid connection to my NMO mount. Theyre pricey but you get what you pay for, great value for what you get out of it.

Pretty impressed with this. I use a 50w mobile as a base station in my basement, and on good days I can pick up repeaters 40 miles away. If I got this antenna outside and higher up, I'd really have some range.

Great antenna with fantastic SWR out of the box! I like that it folds down when needed.

Love my new SBB-5. SWR 1.3 right out of the box so no need to set. The F/O works great, it's really well made and the price doesn't break the bank. Thank you, comet!
