Minecraft Volume 1 (Graphic Novel) (Minecraft, 1)

There is no adult subject matter in this book, I just read thought it, and the book was fun.
Other reviewers state the book has a sexual propaganda and adult subject matter. I just read this book and wanted to make a point that it is just one panel of a girl asking a girl to hang out, like a date because they like each other and that's all. This is toward the end of the book and portrayed in an innocent manner. Leave it to adults to pick apart something and make it suggestive. It had nothing to do with the plot of the book.My kids didn't bat an eye at reading this particular part. Why can't a kid ask another kid to hang out? Other than that, it was about a tween who moved away from his friends, but still meets up with them in the world of Minecraft as they go on an adventure in the game online.

Beware: sexuality propaganda for your kids in this book!
My sons love Minecraft books, comics, and legos and were really excited to finally read an official Minecraft comic book. They were disappointed and told me the book has one girl asking another girl out on a date and it was a big storyline in the book. Whatever your views are on sexuality this is not the place for them. Kids want a book about Minecraft, not dating and sexuality. These topics should be discussed by parents, not hidden in every kid's book and tv show. Kids are not interested in these topics. Let them just be kids. Will be throwing this book in the recycle.

Inappropriate content for age group
I bought this comic book for my 11 year old son, thinking that because it’s Minecraft, it would be age appropriate and neutral, like the game. Unfortunately, for some reason, the authors chose to make part of this comic book story about a romantic relationship between the two young female characters (one girl literally asks the other girl out on “a date”. In a Minecraft comic book? Huh?).To me, this is pretty inappropriate content for a comic book aimed at young kids, based on a video game about building things, digging for gemstones & hiding/escaping from slightly scary monsters. Where is the connection? Romantic relationship stories (of all kinds) belong in the YA section, not in the children’s section. It’s really kind of scary how hard it’s become to protect your kids from those people who want to influence them to grow up way too fast.

Garbage!
I would give this book a zero, if that was an option. I just threw it in the trash! I don’t expect my 8 year old son to be exposed to homosexuality in a children’s book! It was a best seller with 4.5 out of 5 stars reviews, so I ordered it after reading an excerpt and reading a few reviews!

Inappropriate CHILD BOOK content
I purchased this book for my Grandson for his 8th Birthday. He was reading the book when he realized that there was a Female/Female couple as characters in the book.I hands the book to his Mom - my daughter and he proceeds to tell her he ain't reading this book anymore and why!!I am furious, why...WHY would there have to be lesbian characters introduced to an 8 year old in the story. This makes no sence as MINECRAFT is a game about building???There was no need to subject children to this.Disgusting!!The book is in the Trash!!Thanks/ NO ThanksI HAD to give a star rating to submit however, I would NOT have rated this book a star at all.

Good story, full color thick pages, great for kid 7+
Bought for my nephew for xmas. He's 8 and level 2 reader. He absolutely adored this comic. I loved the fact that it's full color pages that are thicker than most comics. It really is a quality product for the price. The story is really cute too! Lots of adventure!

Enjoyable story about friendship served with Minecraft
My child really enjoyed this comic. He and we had no problems with the messages in this story. The themes touch on upheaval, changes and making new friends, but still being able to keep old ones.

Not appropriate for young children
Wonderful graphics. Beside that, feelings are quite mixed. I do not find appropriate for young children audience the matter of showing lesbian relationships (Grace and Candace's more than friendship like). In my opinion, school is the best place for sexual education. This sort of thing should not come from pop culture. One more thing that does not look good is the main character's lifestyle who escapes from the real world, even from his mother, whom he did not want to help to unbox the stuff, from the scool and who substitutes the real things and feelings by virtual game world. What is the message young children getting from the comics?I doubt if I will buy one more issue of this.
