This is a commercial 550 paracord following the type III military specification and designed for civilian use. It is made of nylon with 7 inner 3-ply strands. The braided sheath has a high number of interwoven strands for its size, giving it a relatively smooth texture. The nylon construction makes paracord fairly elastic and soft thus it is easy to knot and holds knot well. You could easily call it one of the most useful ropes on the planet: not just for its strength, size, and knot-holding ability, but even more so for its versatility. It can be used in almost any situation where light cordage is needed such as camping, hiking, tying up in the garden etc. The inner strands can also be pulled out when finer string is needed, for instance as sewing thread to repair gear, or to be used as fishing line in a survival situation. For applications requiring a thinner or less elastic cord, such as shoelaces, users often remove the inner strands and use the nylon sheath alone. The ends of the cord can be melted and/or crimped to prevent fraying. In addition to purely utility functions, this paracord can also be used to fashion knotted or braided bracelets, lanyards, belts, and other decorative items.

Super-strong cord, slightly flawed
I needed this to replace some guy ropes on a pop-up gazebo that's often used in windy weather. The cord was a super replacement - except that, about half way in, there was a manufacturing flaw that meant the outer braid didn't have all its inner strands and was therefore much weakened. Fortunately, I was able to cut at that point and still have ample to use for the four guy ropes, so no problem to me. However, anyone who had need of this being of the same strength throughout its length would have had problems. Otherwise, for me at least, the job is done.
