Review: Remarkable! - I have not previously been aware of Riley Sager’s writing, however I will most assuredly look into his selections of other books after reading “Lock Every Door”! Review: Gothic Atmosphere and a Slow-Burn Mystery - Lock Every Door is an atmospheric slow burn that pulled me in more through its setting than its overall intensity. The Bartholomew is the true standout—vivid, gothic, and haunting. I could easily picture myself walking its halls, and the eerie yet beautiful atmosphere added tension throughout, even when the pacing leaned slower. While I was able to figure out most of the twists ahead of time, the story still kept me engaged and often tempted me to read just one more chapter. Jules frustrated me at times due to her naïveté, but the characters overall felt believable and well developed. Greta, in particular, was a strong supporting character. I finished the book feeling satisfied, though the ending felt a bit rushed and left me wanting more closure. Overall, this is a solid thriller with a memorable setting. Recommended for readers who enjoy slow-burn mysteries with gothic vibes and mood-driven suspense.

Loved this one!!
Some of author Riley Sager's books are amazing and some not so much, however, this one fell into the amazing category! This one kept my attention, had me on the edge of my seat and caused me to lose sleep because I didn't want the story to end!! The plot was fast moving, the character's compelling and the writing style was smooth and easy to read. The reader found themselves immersed in the story and they didn't want it to end, but they also needed to know what was going to happen next! This book will show the reader that even though they lock their door, there is still a way in... Don't hesitate to add this one to your TBR list and move it straight to the top! It's a must read and a must read now!!

Lock Every Door
Lock Every Door by Riley Sager is a slick psychological thriller built around a spooky premise: Jules Larsen lands an apartment‑sitting job in an ultra‑prestigious Manhattan building with strict no‑visitor rules and a history of disappearances. What starts as an intriguing mystery about a gorgeous but eerie place slowly unravels into darker and more shocking territory as Jules digs deeper into the Bartholomew’s secrets. The setting is atmospheric and the mystery hooks you enough to keep turning pages, but for me the suspense didn’t fully deliver. Some twists felt predictable or over‑the‑top, and the character choices strained credibility at times — which made the thrills less effective than I hoped. If you’re into stylish urban thrillers with a slow burn and a big reveal, this hits a lot of the genre marks. But for me it was just… okay — entertaining enough in the moment, but not especially memorable once finished.

Good novel. Good twist. The main character (heroine) does make some dumb decisions.
Good novel. The heroine makes some dumb decisions, but I've learned to accept that as a staple in Riley Sager's novels. I enjoyed the twist. I've read some reviews indicating that the story is slow and boring. I disagree. I thought the story moved at an even pace and held my interest.

Supernatural thriller, or something else??
Warning: Briefly brings up matters of the occult. I went into this knowing it was going to be creepy. I could feel it in my bones. The question for me then was, will it be The Skeleton Key/Get Out type of creepy, or will it be something like The 4th Floor (1999 Juliette Lewis, check it out) where all weirdness can eventually be explained? Couple things I loved immediately - the imagery and the time span. Riley Sager does an excellent job of describing venues and scenarios, from the gargoyle-studded Bartholomew with its birdcage elevator to describing Jules being rushed through the hospital at the beginning of the novel. Jules in the hospital leads to my next point, the time span. The story starts at “Now,” with Jules on a gurney, having been hit by a car; a couple pages later, the page reads, “SIX DAYS EARLIER.” So everything hits the fan in less than a week?? Yes, please! Better still is that the chapters do go back to present time every now and then, so we get a chance to see the perspective of wide-eyed, can’t-believe-her-luck Jules in the past, and the current terrified Jules. The pacing of this story is perfect. I bounced back and forth between reading fast because I wanted to know what happened, and reading more slowly because I didn’t want it to end. I had a working theory that started in the first third of the book, shortly after Ingrid’s disappearance. I figured I knew what was going on, just not all of the players/reasons. It made it more fun for me to figure out who I could/couldn’t trust. This is a story that’s very well done in its weaving of the details. I knew what was going on to some degree, but then it went down a crazy rabbit hole that I didn’t see coming, then back to what I figured it was all along. I thoroughly enjoyed so much of this story (give or take the twisted element that came into play for a couple chapters). I could see a lot of things coming as far as factors that would come into play (e.g. the air vent), but it was still thrilling to see it unfold. When I read the last words on the last page, all I could think was, “wow. What a journey that was.”

I enjoyed this book throughout, I like it when there are dialogues and are fast-paced. This book served the purpose of solving mystery. Was hooked onto it since beginning of the book. Nice climax too. Finished it in one day.
