Red Lantern 20" Taka Japanese Bamboo Hanging Lantern

Our living room only has plugs, so we bought 2 of these. They came with their own hooks and switch on cord. We put in our regular lightbulbs in them, hung them up, plugged them in, and now have light and style in our living room. The price that we originally paid was around $35 each. I just came back here to buy one more for another room but won't pay $77.

I am updating my review since the first one where I just unpacked and tested it out. The look is very authentic and Japanese - very delicate and fragile. It is very nicely crafted. 5 light bulbs make it a bright lamp. The biggest draw back is its lack of design as ceiling lamp for an american home - it doesn't mount on to the ceiling and it never advertised it does. My low rating is because of the unwillingness of the seller to accept a return of a unused lamp more than the design or the look of the product.

The fixture was basically okay. There were some gaps in the mosaic. Simply put, it seemed cheap looking to me.

The cord that comes with this is so cheap looking that it is not even worth it. Terrible product. Can't believe its on here. "Simple Best Quality Unique Overhead Lighting"...yeah right

Cord is suuuuuuper short. Had to swap it out with another cord to hang it from my ceiling. As long as that's within your capabilities and you know you'll need to do it, buy with confidence. The actual lantern looks great and the light diffuses quite well. Very happy overall. -1 star for the laughably short cord.

What a lovely lamp. Great quality and looks exactly as pictured. It makes a room look like a place you want to sit down and read a book in.

This is a charming shade but most ceiling fixtures intended to "swag" come with a reasonably long cord (typically white to blend into white ceilings?). This lamp comes with a black cord that is very short (too long to hang from a track adapter plug, but too short to swag to an outlet not at the ceiling). For some reason, it has a large on/off in-line switch on the cord too -- not sure why since you'd have to climb a ladder to reach it once the shade was hung from the ceiling? You'll need an electrician to rewire this, I think. Too bad because the effect when lit is very pretty (thus two stars) -- for the price not worth the hassle.

My Grandmother had lamps just like these (except hers were a little bigger) on our porch. These bring me back there every time I turn them on at my porch now. Thanks, this is a legit product, and you'd have to go to Manila to find them if not for here.
