A good replacement for the Braun #4 (KF 400) permanent coffee filter.
It is a bit more shallow than the original Braun filter that came with the coffee maker but does fit perfectly. I have been using Braun coffee makers (KF 400) since the mid-1980s when you could breeze into Target and pick up one for a small bit of money. In the Braun filter, a small separation between the filter material and the plastic frame had developed at the apex and while only a very small amount of grounds was evident in the bottom of the carafe, it was not going to improve on its own, justifying this purchase. First pot brewed today with the new filter, works fine. Worth the money to me. An update on 022325: after brewing a number of pots of coffee, I have found that the wider frame at the bottom of this new filter makes removal of the grounds easier for dumping into the garbage can...

Good fit for Technivorm
The way I brew my coffee at home is a bit different so this review may not apply to most. I have a Technivorm Mocchamaster and this filter is a very good fit. It's slightly shorter than a standard #4 paper filter but in terms of how it fits the brewing basket of Technivorm, it's great. I don't let coffee pass through as it's brewing; rather I let it sit in the brewing basket first, then open the dispense gate (with Technivorm, you can do this), so it's pseudo-French pressing in a sense the water is allowed to sit. Because of this, I don't see the issue of many others' complaints about the mesh not being fine enough and letting water pass through too fast that results in watery coffee. The good thing about this filter is that it lets coffee bean oil from fresh beans to pass through. I can actually see a very thin later of oil on the surface of a fresh brew. Some like this and some don't. And yes, you do get some coffee silt... some don't mind this and some hate it. I don't mind actually. As of this writing, it's been about a year since I've started using the filter and it's still working fine. No tears in the mesh. This filter does cut down the waste from using paper filters but then you have to wash permanent filters which wastes water. While the environment is important, let's not get too serious and enjoy your cup of coffee.

Use A Permanent Filter (or are you just too lazy?)
Good quality, and it makes good coffee. Easy to use, just place it in your coffee machine and fill with your loose coffee to brew without creating all the garbage waste of those single-use pods. Remember that even those pods labeled recyclable are still creating garbage that goes into a landfill, so don't be lazy and selfish and just use a permanent filter like this one!

Durability beyond all else... the way it should be
I am so tired of the "buy it and then buy it again" world we live in. It's products like these that I am so happy still exist! The first time I bought this filter was in 2012, and now (12 years later) I am finally replacing it! What an amazing product to have lasted so long. We take care of our things, but this product helps in the way it's built. This fit perfectly in our Cuisinart coffee machine. We have had coffee through this filter almost every single day since purchase. We bang out the rinds and simply soak out what remains with hot water. Let it dry on its own and it has lasted us this long. I don't ever write reviews as most products nowadays don't last long enough for me to feel it's worth it, so I hope this helps others in their buying decisions. In our goal of not being wasteful and constantly adding to the landfills, this product does its job! I just feel bad for the company if I'm only going to need to buy from them ever 12 years ;)

Good, but Not Great
It is very easy to use and clean. However, it does not fit very well into my Frieling Clio. The filter is too wide, so it sits too high in the Clio, and it wobbles around in there. That allows the water to flow through too quickly, within seconds. As a result, I have to use a great deal more coffee in order to get the cup I want, and it still is not the extraction I want. It fit a little better after I removed the handle, but it still is fairly loose in there. I may have to look into other filters or a french press. A good deal of "sludge" will get through, as well. I don't mind that. I really don't. In fact, I somewhat like it. However, if you do not want it, then you probably ought to look into cloth filters. I do tend to go with a fairly fine grind, so that exacerbates the sludge. The ad claims that the filter is "dishwasher safe." While the filter is fairly sturdy, I question whether it will survive through many times in the dishwasher, but that is purely my speculation. Still, I prefer to wash it by hand, which takes only a few seconds. In the end, this filter is worth a good try. If you like it, you can't beat the price for the quality you get. If you don't like it, you ain't out but a few bucks (so long as they continue to offer this under $5).

works great
We bought this because we were tired of constantly having to buy filters. It can be a bit of a pain if you are in a hurry, as you have to dump it first in the trash for the old grinds, but its super easy to use and rinse out. saves money in the long run as you dont have to always remember to buy filters.
