Turns out that it was the shaft that was damaged. Works good.

A must to take the 400lb off torque

Clean your threads 1st
At first it wouldn’t thread on and I almost sent it back, because the old nut would still spin on. I purchased a $70 outside thread chase, cleaned up the damaged threads, now it spins on freely. So the lesson is that the internal threads on the old non-locking nut, were very worn-out and could have stripped the axle spindle threads, if I tried applying the correct torque, then I would be buying a $200/axle.
