Brilliant weather station
Excellent informative weather station. Purchased as a replacement for a similar one which had stopped working

Very short battery life for external sensor
I bought this after owning an older Oregon Scientific weather station which has given good service for nearly 20 years. This one is nowhere near as good, the batteries in the external sensor need replacing every month (I use Duracell Ultra AAA batteries) and now, after 2 years, it won't synchronise the time anymore. I am going to dispose of it.

Simple, ecological and excellent
We had one of these for several years before it finally broke. We loved it! The replacement (different make, bright colours, similar price, bought for us as a gift) uses so much power that it only works when plugged in, and the battery backup fails each time it’s needed. And each time we have to reset the time and date manually. The outside temperature is small compared to the inside temp, (annoying) and it constantly fails to connect to the wireless external thermometer. We never had these problems with the oregan thermometer which worked for months at a time off rechargeable batteries only (ie uses MUCH less electricity), and automatically found the time and date each time we replaced the batteries.

Doesn't last long
First one stopped working within 3 years, second one within 2 years. Also hard to set and has 3 zones but 1 sensor?? Replacing with one much cheaper as no point spending more if it lasts such a short time.

Poorly made
This is the second one I have purchased but it has also stopped working

Oregon BAR208HGX Weather Station
I am on my second replacement weather station regarding the same Fog Warning. After several emails and phone calls to Oregon, I was told that it's normal for the Fog warning to appear as a Smart Alert when the humidity is high, like when it's poring of rain outside. It would be nice if it showed a Smart Alert wind warning when the Met. Office was issuing a Yellow alert for strong winds in my area, am I expecting too much???? The moon phase seems reversed to what my old Oregon Weather Station shows. The net result from Oregon was that the moon phase had been changed and a new moon now shows a clear circle and a full moon now shows 4 black quarters. Read in to that what you will !!! I do not think this weather station does what it say's on the tin. Especially regarding Smart Weather alerts. Would I buy another Oregon weather station? NO DEFINITELY NO.
