Excellent product! Buy it!
I've owned a few of these products for many years. They are excellent, durable and not one has ever failed. I like the power options of removable batteries compared to the units with permanent batteries inside. I normally keep alkaline batteries in them because they last a long time that it's not worth the hassle of rechargeables. I only use rechargables if I'm going to do a project where I will be using it for hours at a time. This product also makes an excellent gift item. They are my screwdriver of choice because in manual mode the fat handle gives you leverage to break loose stubborn screws. I prefer this design over the ones with angles so I can take advantage of the leverage. I like to use mine with a bit extension (not included). The only time I don't use this product is when I'm working in such a tight space that I have to use a regular screwdriver. It is also not the right tool for driving screws into wood with no pilot hole. Also worth noting, this spins at a much slower rate than a cordless drill which I like and cordless drills are just too large to do things like removing screws from computer cases, etc.

Good auto screwdriver with easy-access buttons.
This is awesome. Purchased this because I take apart a lot of Nerf blasters. That is a lot of work to take all of the screws out and then put back in. The batteries (x4 AA 1.5v, included) can be easily removed with the clip-on battery tray. This Black and Decker auto screwdriver can be held like a pen if you wanted. The directional arrows are shown on the black side buttons denoting screwing and unscrewing (it is also embossed on the orange shell). There are safety locks built into this device and nothing will happen if you are pressing the forward and reverse buttons at the same time. The red toggle marker at the tip is a good safety lock feature that this has. I don’t need to use it, but it should be useful for people who toss it in their tool bags and don’t want to worry about the buttons being pressed or held down by the other tools in the bag (thereby killing the battery). During use, I noticed that it doesn’t over-torque the screws going in, but it cannot make them extra tight if you wanted to. This is understandable since it’s job is not to handle tightening specifications. It’s job is just turn loose enough screws. I could feel the motor losing ground when I tried to force screws tighter (do not do this as it may break the product; but just know that mine still works fine). In conclusion, this automatic screwdriver makes my life easier and the batteries lasts a decent time in it. I totally recommend it.

Low torque, 1 speed Only, NOT adjustable. Not magnetic, has no place to hold bit when not in use. You get what you pay for
1/28/2017 Update Increased stars up from 2 to 4 once I came to realize it is designed for light duty only (low torque around the house type situations):Bought this back in July 2016 and it is still working fine. After using it solely within its limits, I have grown to appreciate this electric screw driver vs. a hand powered one. The only thing holding this back from being a 5 star product (relative to its low cost) is the single speed mode it has) I just wish it has at least slow/high torque and fast but it only has one speed. Besides that, I found this item to be quite durable and worked well ever time except when high torque was needed (it wasn't able to drive a 4 inch screw all the way into solid wood unless you pre-drill the hole first). Again, if you're using it for around the house/light duty, it is def. worthy of the purchase and 4 stars.Barely worth the $11 spent on this. has so low torque that it actually has a chuck 'lock' mode so you can hand twist the screws in yourself (yes - your hand will have more torque than this weak 6v screwdriver.) Think of this model as for light duty that's repetitive and you want speed. Its not for heavy duty work. A shame as I find most of my tasks for this screwdriver heavy duty.Comes with 2 bits (the usual cross and plain) but has no storage compartment or spot on body to store them. One thing you'll learn is any bits not stored on the unit will get lost. They should have molded frame to hold the 1 tiny bit that's not being used. Also the head is NOT magnetic. A real shame when you need help to hold onto the screw. No variable speed. Its ONE button that has 1 setting - on. Press it hard or gentley and will not change speeds. A real shame. It runs off 4x AA batteries. As a rough rule, the higher the volts, the more torque it generates. 6v is exceptionally low as most units are 12volts and up. (Most drills on Amazon don't even start any lower than 12 volts.Black and Decker's manual doesn't suggest rechargeable batteries as they tend to run slightly under voltage (means unit has less torque) You may not notice the RPM decrease but that half volt loss of power (when using rechargeable batteries) but it is very noticeable when you're using this at the edge of its ability.

4 years and still going, since I wrote this I've bought 2 more
I forgot to review this but in a nutshell, it still works and does the job. I use it for home repairs and touch ups in lieu of a manual driver. Since its AA powered, I can have a powered driver that works literally all year without messing with recharging a battery. I did not expect this driver to last a year, it was so cheap I figured I'd give it a try and see what happens. For the task I set for it, alkaline batteries work really well, as it lasts over 2.5 years between changes. But the most surprising item is that the motor and gears have held up, and its been saving my wrist for now going 4+ years.I manually tighten and loosen screws to insure I don't over tighten, strip a screw head or I wear out the gears in the driver. Many other review complain the torque isn't enough but truly one has to be careful about the final torque of a screw less it be too much or too little. What this driver does well is saving my wrist from repeat twisting motion while settomg or removing screws, so I now I can rest and reserve my energy for only the final first or last set of twists to set or remove the screw.ProDurableReliablePerfect for touch up workLow costAA poweredConsNo stowage for the driver bits, they should have made a simple slot on the chassis to store it in, its very annoying to switch between a slot and PhillipsWhat I did was put a 1" wide rubber band made of an cut piece of old bicycle tire inner tube around the handle. In this band I store the driver bits. When I use the driver, I put one bit in my pocket and the other is in the driver, and the rubber band improves my grip on the handle. I haven't had to change the rubber band in 4 years too.

Best electric screwdriver out there! Had four for about twenty years.
It will last forever if you use it properly, It's an electric screwdriver not a impact driver or drill. It is the same basic design I bought about 20 years ago, great design. I used these for production with low torque applications that I was concern about striping threads or heads on screws. I had one at home in every tool box I own. It's a must have for me around the house.Pro's :No internal batteries to fail (they all do in time). Never stuck with low charge, Keep AA batteries nearby!Never strip screws, has manual mode for higher torque issues (limited).Easy to fit in tight spaces, buy a extension for longer reach that come with most bit sets.New reduced chuck dept to fit standard short bits. Old design bits sink too far in chuck.Easy to remove gearbox access to lube gearbox, mine needed grease after 10 years.Cons:New design has shorter chuck that won't hold larger dual end bit.Not for high torque or high speed applications,it's not an impact driver or drill. . Manual mode, high torque will strips gears.Batteries corrode over time they all do. If screwdriver won't turn on. Clean contact with a sharp object to remove corroded contacts.

Not perfect, but still a 5 star product
I have a Makita 18v and a Bosch 12 volt drill/driver, but they are overkill (too much torque and too much speed) to be used well for many things. This item solves that problem, and I find I am much less likely to strip screws or bore out receiving holes using this tool. It is super handy for small projects and appears to be reasonably solidly made, which is not something I can say about many contemporary Black and Decker products. After owning one of these for two weeks, I ordered a second one so I can store one in the house and one in the workshop area of my barn. How did I live without this for so long? The time savings are immense, and it is great for removing screws on the old audio and video equipment cases that I have been refurbishing, as well as easier to maintain a straight perpendicular angle on screws than when turning a screwdriver manually. It is great for placing and removing brackets on soft wood items or drywall, like shelving or curtain rod holders. The time and aggravation this can save for many common tasks is incredible. I love it.But, it is not perfect. My main complaint about the design is that the forward and reverse buttons are exactly opposite each other and when squeezing one button for use my hand is naturally placed to oppose that force on the opposite side. Even after a fair amount of use, one has to make a conscious effort to not push both buttons at the same time. A toggle button would be so much better. Two other small complaints are that there is no bit holder and it would be nice if the length of the driver could be reduced to make it fit into tighter quarters. All things considered, despite these shortcomings, the utility of this thing considering the price is five stars all the way.

Good tool and I got it for a great price at Amazon
Because it is a slow speed screw driver, it will not strip the threads of a screw head as easily as a faster, more powerful cordless drill/screw driver. An embedded screw with a stripped thread is very difficult to remove. Until recently, I did not use a screw driver often enough to justify purchasing a cordless screw driver, but when I saw this one, I have to have it, because it uses AA batteries instead of the built-in rechargeable batteries in older models that will die with age, making that tool useless. When the built-in battery is low, the tool is also useless until the batteries are recharged. With this one, I just pop in some rechargeable AA batteries and when they need to be recharged, I just put in new ones and continue to use the tool, while the batteries are recharged in a separate charger. Despite being low speed, it has high torque, meaning it is pretty powerful at low speed. It is powerful enough for me to just use it to put a screw through a thin piece of wood paneling without first drilling a starter hole.

Using it to restring guitars
With the right top piece I use this screwdriver to restring my guitars. Works like a charm, has the correct speed. Would buy it again anytime.

Its need powerful recharge batteries
Cause i need vertical screw driver and i like it because you can separate the battery unit from it when you not need to use

Did not get the 2 screwdriver bits
Nice screwdriver. The packaging and product information says that it comes with 2 bits: 1 slotted and 1 philips, but i couldn't find it in the packaging, so minus 1 star.

Saves me lots of time
This is a fantastic screwdriver for the price. It's not very fast, but has a lot of power. It also can be used as a normal screwdriver in manual mode. I have not had to replace the batteries yet after a couple months. I've used it several times when assembling furniture and recently when putting up new blinds in the house. Quality is very good and solid. Can't complain for the price!
