I've just about filled the house with Energenie products now and this Wi-Fi plug has proved very useful. Its currently in use with the kettle, and that probably sounds really lazy, but just imagine , there you are, deep into your favourite box set, you fancy a warm drink and you say "Alexa, turn the kettle on" By the time you have paused the show, wandered to the kettle (maybe after a detour for another necessary visit) its boiled and ready. Just need to teach Alexa to make the tea now. It was much cheaper than re-investing in a smart kettle, easy to set up, small and neat. Have now purchased more, a fan that's on a schedule , lights also lazy I know via Alexa, but double up as security feature on schedule again when we are out. Endless uses, so invest now, you wont regret it. Actually I think it must be time "Alexa, turn the kettle on !" 😊

The screenshot shows the difference between the 'Add a Device' page for this smart plug on a Samsung Galaxy S6 phone and on a Samsung Galaxy Tab S tablet. The app on the phone is missing the Help link and OK, Done button. Without the button, you cannot pair the smart plug. IF YOU DON'T SEE THE BUTTON, TRY ANOTHER WIFI ENABLED DEVICE. Once paired, you will be able to access it from the app on all devices. Pairing on the tablet was easy and the plug works well, but only one star until Energenie fix the app.UPDATE. Energenie customer services responded promptly to my email about this problem. The issue is that, on my particular phone, the full Add a Device page only shows if you have font size set to small. The app does not adjust for larger font sizes. Energenie told me that: "We will add your multi-font feature request for review for future app updates." In my opinion, the ability to adapt to multiple font sizes is a basic requirement for an app, not a 'feature', and its absence is a bug! That said, I am very pleased with the smart plugs. They were easy to set up once I could see the whole page in the app! And they respond so rapidly to an Alexa command that my lamps are switched on before Alexa has said "OK" to my request. They are far better than the previous generation MIHO005 smart plugs, whose weak point was always the unreliable and slow response from the Mi|Home Gateway. I've upgraded my review to 3 stars and will add the other two stars when the app is updated to cope with variable font sizes.

I bought this product because I needed a different make compared to the ones I already have. but has been a pain the ass to use. I have it set on the tv plug so I can control when the kids watch tv and also have it on a timer to turn off at midnight and back on at 7 am. After a couple of weeks, it disconnected itself from the internet. to reset it, to do so, I have to left the TV off the bracket reach behind and resit the smart plug. after another few weeks, it disconnected again. I had to get behind the tv again but also I had to delete the app and reinstall it again and then reconnect to the plug. one day later it disconnects and won't turn on the tv. I have now removed the smart plug and I can't return it because it passed the returns period. I have 2 other smart plugs from TECKIN and not had any problems with them.

Very neat and tidy, easily fits in space of a single mains plug.Setting up is a bit strange, you have to change your phone's data connection and network. Not as slick and simple as some other devices.Some instructions on how to configure for use with Alexa would be useful, especially as the name of the skill appears to have an odd character in it? Energenie-MiJHome?

I have only used one Wi-Fi plug of this type so far and it has become intermittent, so is of no use to me. When working, the Energenie MiHome system is very good and flexible. I have invested heavily in it but it has a reliability problem. I have eight failed Energenie original smart plugs to date but to be fair, three have been reluctantly replaced, some time ago, by Energenie after several emails to them.

I bought one of these to replace a LightwaveRF equivalent. After about 2 years with this system, I have found them unreliable and not very robust. There are several, apparently identical, suppliers of similar adapters that do not need an expensive "hub" to operate but this version is a UK supplier. I had to invoke their support to sort out a problem with my wifi network and they were excellent, staying with me until they had talked me through the setup and making sure all was well.Unfortunately, this is the only piece of kit they do which does not require a hub, otherwise I would consider replacing all my LightwaveRF devices.

Very basic compared to similar products that do not need a gateway. The feature that I purchased this for, the geofencing, is flakey and does not hold its settings. On first trial they switched applications off when I left home but failed to switch on when I returned. There is permanent yellow triangle which contains an exclamation mark next to the edited names on the app. There is no help file that tells you what it means.Don’t buy this if you want sophistication but if you want a basic smart plug to operate from your phone it’s OK.Overall disappointed the product could be somuch better.

I’ve tried a few of these different smart plugs and I really think these are the best! It was a quick setup and they are very quick to respond to my voice commands via Alexa. The free MiHome app also works well and there are lots of options to setup timers and geofencing so for example I can setup a lamp to be turned on when I’m approaching home in the evening after work. Well worth giving these plug a go."
