A Wonderful Portrait of a Great and Humble Servant
Mr. Williams paints a wonderful picture of a great and humble servant of God by using stories of people he poured his life into as a canvas. One person who Coach Wooden admired was Abraham Liccoln. I believe he described him as "the greatest American." At Lincoln's Tomb in Springfield, IL are the words; "Now He belongs to the Ages". In one of the stories in "How to be Like Coach Wooden", Ann Myers Drysdale said that someone asked Coach; "What would you do if you could live your life over again?" He said, "I would like to be a better, kinder person." With all the success that Coach Wooden experienced, I believe that Mr. Williams captures his heart. He records Coach Wooden as saying; "I can tell you about all the blessings in my life, but blessings aren't success. Did I make my best effort to do my best? This is the only criteria, only I am the one who knows. Am I a success? I have peace of mind." Thanks for a great portrait. Now Coach John Wooden belongs to the ages.

More than a coach---a TEACHER!
I gave this book 5 stars because of the material I learned that had nothing to do with sports; but had to do with living a fulfilling life and giving back to others. I have read all three of the authors books on Coach Wooden, all three are different in that each one captivates and enriches the other--the author knows his material first hand. He was personally engaged with coach, visiting him and conducting interviews with over 400 people on writing this book.......very well written...

Greatest Coach Ever
His teachings and philosophy on the court, are what his students/players have carried with them throughout their lives. His players never understood his teachings, until later in life. Excellent reading, from a bruin for life.

Wodden's worth to Emulate.
With over 800 interviews, Pat Williams does a remarkable aspect of capturing the essence of John Wooden's character as well as how he instilled his teachings to his former students, players and colleagues. Great read to find out who the man was.
