I did a lot of research before buying this product. My cat is very vocal about begging for food first thing in the morning and throughout the day. In order to keep her quiet but not feed her too much I have to feed her many tiny meals throughout the day. This feeder feeds four meals a day and you can decide what time each meal is given. The feeder holds a decent amount of food so you don't have to refill it very often and the lid seals so bugs haven't gotten into it. Also my cat has not figured out how to break into it and she knows how to open everything. Each portion can be as small as 1/8 of a cup which is ideal. Now my cat doesn't wake me up in the morning and she doesn't annoy me as soon as I walk in the door after work. Also I can leave her alone over the weekend without having to leave a ton of food out and worry about her getting fat or sick. I Love this feeder. It is easy to use, it does exactly what I need it to, it looks nice, and it is a good price.

Controls are a bit finicky to set things up; there's a lot of buttons, and programming feed cycles is a "hold this button, press that button to toggle value" type thing. It'll remind you of programming a VCR :)The USB cable that provides power is not well protected, and the cats cat can easily unplug it from the unit. It does support "D" cell batteries for backup operation, but no smaller batteries for just storing configuration, so if power is lost it needs re-setup. At least, mine did :)The wall wart that the USB cable plugs into is fairly obtrusive as well -- sticks straight out, with the cable sticking out from there. We've had to anchor it to keep the cats from unplugging it by walking on it.Feed wise, it works well. Have had no issues with the cats blocking distribution of food; it can be setup to do 1-n food distributions multiple times per day, which works well.Does NOT have an "out of food" alarm that I can find, but the cats seem to trigger their own alarm within a few hours anyway.Cats (2, 6 months old now) have not been able to knock it over, but they HAVE moved it several feet across the floor. They also haven't been able to get into the food hopper.

I have two cats and I needed to be away for a full day. I feed them a little 3 times a day and didn't want to ask anyone to come so often. I set the feeders up several days early and started trying them out. The instructions are pretty clear if you use both the text and the pictures as you work with the devices to set them up. I will be using them all the time as they like their morning meal really early and now they are not pestering me at 5:30! So far they work as describe by the seller and I've had no problems. I've had them just under 2 weeks, so far I am happy.One more thing, if you unplug them, they return to the default settings. I put batteries in and think I can move them now if I need to without having to reprogram the settings. I haven't tried it yet.

Great product, use it on my back deck to feed 4 outdoor cats. I’ve adjusted it to 3 feedings a day, portions so the cats eat everything between feedings. That way I have no unwanted guests coming around to eat too. Very easy to program or change time or portions. Cats are happier too and no longer scratching on the door because I forgot to feed them.Saving money don’t buy as much cat food as when I had a big self feeder. All the neighbors cats were over eating 24/7 😂.

Portions out food like advertised. However there is no red light sensor thing. It is also a little confusing when first setting up but it was a learning curve on my part. I think it’s great and works like you would expect. The quality so far seams decent.

I needed an auto feeder for the times I was at work or out of town. The USB connection on the main unit didn't look normal on arrival with the white bar at an angle. But, it plugged in and functions. Using this feeder, I don't need to leave out too much food and encourage eating when my cat isn't actually hungry. Based on the estimated portion size, I calculated how many portions equaled 1/3 cup of small kibble. The actual amount that it dispensed was almost 1/4 cup more than it should have been. When I dropped it down by a portion it was too little. (I used to only feed once a day.) I modified it and split the meal up to lunch and dinner. Still struggling to get the portions right, but it is better. Doesn't make sense how 8 meal portions provides more than 3+5. Despite the portion struggle, it hasn't failed me yet with providing food. So far so good.

Eh, it’s okay. I bought this for my mom who is housing my cat since it isn’t allowed with me at my apartment. After reading the instructions, I had everything set up to feed 1 meal in the am and pm. When she got home she watched the timer to see if it would feed the cat. Yes it worked! The portion size did have to be increased, but right now in this story she didn’t touch any buttons. She just ensured it fed the cat on time. The next day she did the exact same thing, but then it didn't feed the cat in the pm.I hope it’s not expected to set this feeding timer up every day? Doesn’t that defeat the point?I would just like to add, you gave us a tiny instruction book with like 2 small pages but no troubleshooting details or...if that was suppose to even occur? I will have to unplug it next time I’m over and see if I can reset it all up. As of right now, 3 stars as I love the idea of this, just don’t like how the product is functioning.

The setup was very simple and I like that I can use the manual button when my cats yell at me because they can't wait until the next feeding time to eat. Each portion is small, probably about 2 tablespoons or an 1/8th of a cup of kibble per portion, so I've got 4 portions for breakfast and dinner, and 2 portions for lunch and sometime in the middle of the night. The convenience is great because now I can feed my cats before 5am without getting out of bed.
