Quick Tips for Minute taking-short book with lots of information
I have not yet finished the book but I am really enjoying it. It is a great reference tool for taking meeting minutes, especially if you have never taken minutes before. Great ideas and I love the practice sections of the book. I would highly recommend it. I have been an administrative assistant for years and just trying to brush up on my techinques as I have not taken minutes at meetings before and looks like that will soon become a new part of my job. This book is very easy to understand and has great sections that I will be refering back to over and over again.

It gave good pointers about what is expected
I found this ebook helpful as I began the responsibility of minute taking only recently. It gave good pointers about what is expected, and what is not, some examples of phrases and wording to use, abbreviations, grammar, etc. It was helpful in that it instructed about how to be concise and thorough without being too wordy or informal.

Valuable Guide for Meeting Minute Training
I recommend the guide as the material covers the importance of the skills: word processing, listening and proof reading bring to minute taking. The use of these skills are comparable to steps used as counterchecks for planning and support of the organizational process minute taking demands. Also set out is the importance of sending the agenda prior to the meetings and this gives confidence to the structure of the important task of being acquainted to the topics of the meeting. Very useful examples of Agendas and Minutes.

I DO VOLUNTEER WORK AS A SECRETARY AND SINCE I ...
I DO VOLUNTEER WORK AS A SECRETARY AND SINCE I AM ELDERLY, RETIRED AND HAVEN'T WORKED OUT IN THE PUBLIC SINCE 1995, THIS BOOK HELPED ME CATCH UP WITH THE CURRENT PROCEDURES AND WAS VERY HELPFUL. I ALSO TOOK A RECORDER INTO THE MEETING AND BETWEEN THE TWO I WAS ABLE TO TYPE UP THE MINUTES OF OUR MEETING. WHEN I QUIT BEING SECRETARY, I DONATED THE BOOK TO THE ORGANIZATION FOR THE NEXT ONE TO USE.

Fantastic tips & trics for an easy start
Easy to read and immediately useful.I have been planning meetings for quite some time and I was glad to read that I already did a good job, however still found some tips to improve.I hardly ever have to take minutes, but I found the book very useful and if I ever have to take minutes, I will read the book again.I coach young graduates in Assistant functions and certainly will recommend reading the book!

Not for business use
This book was purchased for use by a secretary who assists with our meetings and agendas. In reading this book there is a reference on page 37 to a woman taking notes because her bust size is 34C. This clearly did not make it through our HR department for corporate use. While such language may have been appropriate in 2012 when this book was published it clearly does not fit into the HR policies of 2021. I have returned the book.

Minute taking an Dyslexia
I had heard of Heather before and her ideas on speed Writing so I chose this book as I am working with dyslexic adults in the workplace who struggle on a day to day basis with chairing meetings and taking minutes within the meetings. This can be at the same time.Since receiving this book two weeks ago I have used parts of it with two dyslexic adults in the workplace. They have found the checklist and action plan very straightforward and clear to understand. Both have been able to positively use this and begin to make successful meetings for themselves. Often people who are dyslexic find it difficult to know what to record following a meeting, there is a good exercise in the book to help people identify the key things that their organisation requires them to record.Thank you from my dyslexic workplace adults for this helpful Skills Training Course

Very useful, clearly written - a must have for the novice or expert
I thought my minute taking skills were pretty good so I did not know how useful this book would be for me, however there are some great points about layout, I love the examples of alternatives to "said", the exercises are relevant and not too long. I also thought the section about the chairperson and ways to suggest better "chairing" were very helpful. I would thoroughly recommend this book and I look forward to more by the same publisher.

Excellent, informative easy to read guide on all aspects of minute taking
I highly recommend this guide to minute taking for anyone who lacks confidence and needs guidance in minute taking. It also acts as a helpful reminder the for experienced minute taker. When I did my PA course in college years ago, I covered the different styles and formats of meetings, and carried out a few practice sessions, but no-one gave this kind of practical real life work place guidance of what to expect. I wish I'd read this book years ago. This book covers many of the things I found out only by experience. It explains all aspects of the meeting and gives good practical tips on preparing for meeting; the importance of the relationship with the chair; how to summarise points and what to leave out; type of language to use; acquainting yourself with the agenda topics and checking points with attendees and follow up actions.

Thank You
I am writing this review to say thanks for the free e-books. I haven't read them all yet, but think it's great to have them and are able to dip into them. I will be doing an NVQ soon so will hopefully find the books useful for that. I work in a GP's surgery and may one day consider trying out for a Medical Secretary position there.
