Yes, they're plastic and not particularly durable, but they're at least as durable as the fasteners that come with most flag poles, including the one I picked up at Costco. The pole came with a metal fastener at the top of the pole, which will likely outlast the flag, the pole it's on, and possibly the house it's attached to, but at the bottom was a plastic unit just like this one. I've just accepted that these need to be replaced periodically, and these fit my pole, are easy to adjust when I swap out flags (which I do at least a dozen times a year), they allow the flag to spin around the pole at least as well as the one at the top, and so far have lasted longer than what came on the pole.Edited on 9/2 to add: Flags have now been flying through the summer thunderstorm season with no sign of the thing breaking. It's still plastic, but may be more durable than I originally thought. It also spins quite smoothly. My flags never twist around the pole at this fastener.

These are the only size that will fit the flag poles purchased at Costco. That's a plus. I scoured the internet, every imaginable seller, and this is it ,so it is with sadness that I'm ordering again because the plastic loop does not hold up. If you live where there's any wind at all, the constant abrasion wears the plastic loop thin and then breaks. Also, the flag still tangles on the pole. This is my second set that I've gone through in less than a year. That's the minus.NEW... one month later: Solution to the problem: My third set so far, each lasts about 4 months in a windy area. This time I bought two stand 1" key rings (the kind that go round and round) from the local hardware store. I used them to replace the metal snap hooks that come with the fasteners. IT WORKS!! Amazing the company hasn't figured this out. If they were sold this way they'd have a solid 5 star review from everyone. My flag is blowing right now in the middle of a terrific wind storm and it's going all around the pole again and again as it should.

For the price, I wasn't expecting much. I even ordered 2 sets thinking they wouldn't last long. Well, I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the package and these very solid looking things appeared. Now I think I'll find another place for a flag pole. US flag and Texas flag side by side. Oh yeah! That works!!! Update 9-6-18 I can't believe that after the comment I posted, this company sent me a complete replacement order. OMG! All I asked about was a replacement screw. Just a thought folks, put this company on your go to list for anything flag. I'm about to order 2 new flags just because of this. Thanks P.S. 1 1/4" aircraft aluminum tubing is perfect pole size for these rings.

I bought 2 original flag sets at Costco 4-5 years ago. It has done alright but the flag clips on one broke within a year. I salvaged ones from the other so then I could only fly one flag.Two months ago my flag was ripped by high winds (50MPH+) and broke the rotating flag ring. These are VERY hard to find, as the flag pole is 1.25". I bought a new flag along with these rings and using both on one pole seems to work much better in keeping the flag from twisting itself up on the pole. We'll see how long these last. I will probably buy another set to have as spares, being they are hard to find.

These are the right size for your Costco bought flag and pole!After 3 years of flying our flag proudly, one of the rings broke and it took me a long time to find the correct size that fits the Costco flag pole. Believe me when I say that it is not at all easy to find, as the flag pole is 1.25". My original rings broke several years ago and I made some hack job replacements as I couldn't find the original replacements. Now they have them on Amazon and they fit and work just fine. The only drawback is that these are plastic because of the 1 1/4 inch diameter pole. The 1 inch rings come in aluminum and would make a much better replacement. The heat and UV in California kill the plastic, especially when you fly the flag every day. I like these because the flag doesn't become all twisted in the winds we have in the foot hills of the Sierras.
