Very Easy Little Peppers: A Vibrant Collection of Compositions Written Especially for the Young Performer (Faber Edition: Little Peppers)

Great compositions, but some are better for students with a little more instruction under their belts.

I love all of the music in this book with is very easy introduction to jazz. My 9 year old son is just moving into it with his piano teacher. I showed it to his piano teacher and she loves the book, too. Youtube has someone playing the pieces, they are gorgeous. My son is well into Piano Adventures (PA) Level 2A and I would say that a couple of songs map to a PA Level 2A student, and the rest map to a PA Level 2B student. The tricky part is when one hand gets an eighth note rest, which makes the hands play out of sync for the rest of the phrase. Ditto for when there's a dotted quarter note. Definitely gives the pieces a jaunty, jazzy sound. So much fun!

I am an adult beginner. These pieces have beautiful melodies and rhythms that I have not found in the standard beginner books. My instructor thought they would be challenging and fun, and they are.

I am excited to explore more of Elissa Milne's music. This collection is full of little gems that are great for teaching young pianists. It is not very often you see music written for young children that is easy but inventive both rhythmically and melodically. I will be getting more" peppers" for sure.

I LOVE this book. I usually find jazz pieces not being very "helpful" for the students. But these pieces even though seem easy have a wonderful teaching value to them. I also find that older students (10 years old and up) find the pieces more appealing than the younger students.

Great book. Even though this is a level one book, each song encourages different skills.

I wish I had gotten turned on to this series sooner .. my students love them and they're brilliantly written.
