## Description

Product Description Welcome To Yorkshire Worms - Our Range of Tiger Worms We specialise in selling composting worms and worms for general usage. We have a range of worms to suit all your needs. Our quality worms are used in Wormeries, Composting and for improving soil conditions. The Tiger worm (Brandling worm) is very good at the rapid processing of Organic waste into nutrient rich compost. Tiger worms have a huge appetite. Our extensive garden worm selection includes the very best earthworms available for your yard. These hard-working garden worms are brilliant for composting deeper under the surface and turning organic material into nutrients for the ground. Not only do earthworms improve the structure of your soil, but they also create pathways for water and air even in clay soils, allowing plants to grow their roots. Browse our online store today to find the perfect earthworms for your garden. Our garden worms are sold in different quantities to fit the needs of all gardens! Taking care of your colonies is a vital aspect of maintaining a healthy, long-lasting wormery. With the right care, your earthworm population will double in size every two to three months and provide you with a lifetime of bait and compost. Housing Your Earthworms The ideal habitat for worms is easy to maintain once you’ve got the hang of it. Try and keep your worm habitat at 15-25C and sheltered from strong winds and rain. Maintaining Moisture Levels Worms do best in damp conditions – not too wet, and not too dry. Compare it to the moisture levels of a wrung-out flannel. If it’s too dry, mist the wormery with water. If it’s too wet, add more cardboard and paper to absorb the moisture. Your worms will thank you by thriving! Feeding Your Earthworms Earthworms can eat half their weight in food every day, which makes them excellent composters. At the beginning of your wormery, you’ll want to limit feeding to best preserve your worm population. Adding more food than your worm population can handle will cause excess food to putrefy and cause an unpleasant smell. Start with around a yoghurt cup full of scraps a week to begin and increase proportionally to the number of worms as the population increases. USING TIGER WORMS ON THE GARDEN Keep tiger worms in a breathable container with moist bedding such as coconut coir, shredded cardboard, or aged compost so their skin stays damp enough to breathe. Feed them small amounts of fruit and vegetable scraps, coffee grounds, or crushed eggshells, and avoid meat, dairy, salty, or oily foods that can harm the colony. Place the bin in a shaded area between about 15–25°C and gently mix the bedding every couple of weeks to prevent bad smells and improve airflow. Check the moisture and food levels regularly, adding a little water if it becomes dry and harvesting finished compost when it turns dark and crumbly.

Review: Great quality worms - Great worms, active and well on delivery. Posted safely and arrived very quickly - 3 days early. Would purchase again.
Review: Great Service - My Worm Order arrived much sooner than stated, I was really surprised but very pleased, they were well packaged and had enough compost in the bags to keep them happy .... lovely looking worms large, juicy and lots of them ... so far so good ... I couldn't see any fatalities and to my astonishment they were quite lively I thought they would be sluggish after their journey through the postal system, they're borrowing down nicely in my wormery now, and I'm looking forward to some lovely worm castings and worm tea to keep my veg garden healthy and organic.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Are these 100% tiger worm (eisenia fetida) or are they mixed with the less efficient dendrobaenas?**
A: They seem to all be the same species. I can vouch for them being extremely efficient composters.

**Q: Do these worms reproduce? If i buy 100, how many can I expect after 6 months or a year?**
A: Provided they are looked after correctly and the worm bin is kept at a constant PH Ie between 6 - 8. With PH 7 being the absolute optimum and the bin is kept at 15 - 25 degrees centigrade then the worms can double in numbers every month so you could end up with 600 worms. So you can really expect the worms to reproduce fairly rapidly. Tho the worms will need to be fed correctly as the worm bin PH will likely become too acidic or too alkaline if the worms are over fed.

**Q: can they be used with mainly grass cuttings**
A: To successfully produce compost in a compost bin will require a mixture of green produce which grass cuttings is plus brown such as dry leaves. Grass cutting on there own will produce a wet mass and will start to smell awful in a few weeks. I suggest you go to Pinterest and read ways to start a compost heap. Unless you are starting a Wormery in which case you will need to supply the Tiger Worms. If it is a compost bin you are starting then they will appear from the ground during the composting procedure and there is no need to purchase any..

**Q: Can they be added to fresh chicken manure**
A: Using chicken manure for worm composting be tricky business. It is very dry, contains high concentrations of salts, and can release plenty of ammonia as well – making it a very dangerous material when fresh. ... You definitely shouldn't add worms as long as there is a strong odor of ammonia.
