Boringly Perfect
It's not perfect, but it does everything I need it to do for over six years. I bought this for my desk setup during the summer of 2019 so I could easily switch between my work laptop and my desktop gaming PC, and I can confidently say that this KVM works for everything you need it to do. I haven't had any issues with G-Sync or loss in video quality to my 4K HDR monitor, and DisplayPort works with both standard and mini (USB-C/Thunderbolt) outputs from each computer to the DisplayPort adapters of the KVM. The only issue I've had, and it happens so infrequently that I almost forget its and issue when it comes up, is that sometimes after a power outage or and update my Windows PC will somehow forget how to communicate with the KVM for some reason; the USB devices I have connected to the KVM through a USB3 hub will just not work, even after disconnecting and power cycling the hub. The only way I've found to work around this is to power cycle the KVM itself, but I've only had to do that two or three times over the last six years. Overall, I think this is a fantastic device if you have a need to a KVM that can support both high-end USB3 and DisplayPort switching. I can't speak for others who have had issues with theirs, but for me, it's been solid.

G-Sync Not Working
I only have 2 issues with this unit: 1. G-Sync does not work with the unit. I can plug my computer directly into the monitor and G-Sync works just fine. As soon as I hook it up to the KVM, G-Sync is disabled. I am going to try a higher quality cable, just to confirm sure that the KVM is the limiting factor here. 2. Lack of cables. I understand that in a professional environment, there is a good chance that cables are already provided and that IT folk installing this equipment may have specific needs that wont necessarily be met with this unit. I think there should be two units sold. One can be the pro bundle with just the switch and the other can be a home bundle with the switch and a set of standard-length cables. Other than that, this is a solid device. I tested out 2 other KVMs before finally deciding to spend the money on this unit. It is working great and the front and rear USB 3.0 ports are great.

Working as Intended
Functionality: The device operated seamlessly right out of the box and included additional adapters to accommodate various outlet types (I required a US adapter, which was provided). Ease of Installation: The setup process was straightforward, with all components clearly labeled for convenience. Build Quality: The unit is constructed from durable steel rather than flimsy plastic and has a solid, premium feel. While it carries some weight, it remains light enough to be mounted using earth magnets on the side of my PC (see photo). Overall: I needed a solution to connect both my PC and Android TV Box to my primary monitor via DisplayPort, while also integrating 3.5mm audio inputs and outputs for my PC speakers. This device met all my requirements and performed flawlessly.

Multiple defective units
First bought in April 2021. One of the USB inputs stopped working after a year. Contacted StarTech and they issued an RMA in November 2022. Replaced with the same unit. Same issue occurring again in April 2024. I had not touched the unit since the replacement and it was working fine. I had to move some cables around so I unplugged and re-plugged one of the USBs. Now one of the USBs no longer works.....again. Will attempt to RMA again but not optimistic and Startech needs to address this issue. Update: Submitted another RMA, instructed to contact customer support first. Contact customer support. Denied RMA since warranty from original purchase expired. I guess Startech does not back their product, only their warranty.

I love this KVM
So, first of all, I had been using a cheap KVM for years (I use a Mac for most things, but I need a monster PC for games, and don't want separate monitors for each machine), but I bought a new monitor recently and got really tired of switching my KVM, my monitor, and audio separately. Like, finally got tired of it after 6 years of doing it. There's some serious sticker shock when I found a KVM that would meet my needs, but what the hell, I clearly DO need a solution, and it's not like I'm going to switch to only Mac or PC anytime soon, so I bought this hoping it would solve my issues. I really love this KVM. It actually doesn't solve my monitor issue, but I doubt that's the KVM's problem (my Mac mini only supports HDMI, and has ALWAYS had issues pairing with my Asus ROG monitor...so, throw a converter in the mix, and it just won't work, unfortunately), but for everything else, it's outstanding. The picture quality hasn't degraded at all compared to a straight connection, the consolidated audio has been fantastic, and it has a good solid build that just feels much nicer to use than my old plastic KVM with the button tied to a thin wire. My only cautionary tale is that you know what your current equipment can handle before investing in something like this. Like, it's not this product's fault that Mac Minis don't play nice with my monitor's brand. Frankly, I'd rather replace the monitor at this point than the KVM, since I never use the expensive features of my monitor that I paid for... Overall, great product, highly recommended. Oh, and it doesn't come with any wires (um, except power). Buy the wires you need with this.

USB stopped working after two and a half years
When the product works, it works great! However, the USB ports stopped working after about two and a half years (outside of the warranty period). I did troubleshooting with their support, and confirmed it could not be fixed. It is definitely not worth the price, and I will not be buying another one.

DisplayPort and USB3 is nice... but doesn’t seem like EDID works
Works ok. My displays reset between switching... And my usb audio is usually messed up also.... so I don’t think it supports all the features it should. I got tired of switching audio manually and readjusting my audio every switch... so I’m looking for another unit.

Plug and play, works with a 5120x1440 Quad HD display. I’m extremely pleased with it.

I was using StartTech's older dual DP monitor KVM. I decided to upgraded primarily because of the USB3 hubs, which I now use for usb3 devices. I made the mistake of trying a competing product, and my 28" Asus 4k monitor would either not show up anything, or never be able to go above 60hz. So returned it. This one, worked flawlessy from the first try. I have an Intel Mac mini and a work Intel Macbook Pro. I can switch my 28" 4k monitor at 60hz and all the USB devices, Logitech wireless-receiver keyboard included, with a single switch. Note: the UHD ports seem to be very strict about UHD devices. I tried a Logitech webcam on it, and it showed up as a device on the Macs, but would not show an image. I got a regular USB3 4 port hub, and connected that to the Startech KVM. All 4 devices plugged in there work and switch without issues.

I had the Aten cs1922 right before. I spend hours to configure it not even properly and after 2 weeks it lost my configuration. I bought this Startech model and it worked right out of the box and it works fine for more than 1 month. I cannot tell if it works well for high refresh rates but I can tell that it works well for an office or developer environment.

I connect a 4k Dell monitor, das keyboard mechanical, a Corsair gaming mouse, Logitech HD webcam and Audiotechnican USB Mic via this KVMP to an Elitebook 360 via a cheap USB-c targus dock and a Linux host using an Nvidia GTX 780. Occasionally the dock will connect to a Macbook Pro. It just works-- but thank goodness coz the manual is minimalist and their appears to be no way to configure this thing. I had one problem- the gaming mouse would never respond when connected via the HID ports, instead I connected it via the front panel USB3 port. I believe gaming mice and KVM generally don't work, but in this setup it works pretty reliably. Occasionally when switching the mouse won't get recognised, but switching back and forth one more time generally makes it come back to life (I think its Linux drivers as the Windows PC never has an issue). Picture is rock solid and sound gets integrated with the display port from my Windows PC which is really nice, Linux setup slightly different. On both this is something I could configure so not really about the KVM but worth looking in to as it simplifies audio somewhat. Knocked off a start mostly because it doesn't come with cables, which is probably sensible (I connect to minidp ports for example) but means the price is pretty stiff-- it is worth it tho, this thing just works.

I'm using it with a 4K monitor, including audio over DisplayPort, and some USB devices. Haven't tried any USB 3.0 units. It just works, which is what I expect for something in this price range. It's worth noting that it comes with no cables except for the power supply. For me it wasn't an issue since I was replacing an older KVM, but otherwise it'll add even more to the price tag. [Edit, 8 months later] It doesn't work flawlessly, unfortunately: If a DisplayPort is on a low resolution (typically when in BIOS setup or a in a boot loader menu), then switching away and back to it doesn't restore the display. I have to bypass the KVM in these situations to see what I'm doing. Not really ok, but it doesn't happen too often for me so only taking one star off.
