Technoskin - Compact Travel Carrying Case for NEW 3DS or NEW 3DS XL - Black - 8 Game Holders - Hard Cover - Mesh Accessory Pouch - Carrying Strap

I was looking for a simple case to use for carrying my 3DS to work and back. The requirements were as follows:1) The case be made of a rigid material to protect against drops or random things in my purse.2) The case be able to hold a number of games.3) The inside of the case be constructed out of or lined with a soft material to keep from scratching the 3DS.This case does have a hard shell exterior and feels similar to luggage or a case for sunglasses. I haven't dropped it yet but I'm pretty sure a 3DS or 3DS XL would survive a fall from from normal human height when sealed within.I really like that this case has slots for a 8 games. Including the slot in the console itself that comes to a grand total of 9 games. I have a lot of 3DS games and jump around often so it's nice to have the variety. It's also nice for extended trips where you won't be able to switch them out for some time. A more subtle positive but also part of the games requirement is that the game slots not be on an area that touches the console. This case has them facing away from the console so they won't be rubbing against it. There is also a stylus holder that I will probably never use.I'm not sure what the fabric is made of on the inside of the case, but it is soft and feels like the inside of my glasses case.The only negative I can think of is that I have an original 3DS and because this case accommodates both the 3DS and 3DS XL there is some room around mine. With the case closed and zipped, if I shake the case hard enough I can feel the 3DS move around a little. I tried the Technoskin case on my boyfriend's 3DS XL and it didn't seem to move at all no matter how hard I shook it. I doubt this will be an issue, but I thought I'd list it anyway.Miscellaneous Notes:The case came with a long strap that can convert it into a kind of purse. I haven't used it this way, but it's kind of a cool idea. You could probably put money, ID, and credit cards in the extra mesh flap next to the games.Also, unlike many cheap imports, this doesn't have any weird chemical smells.

This is an okay case, and I was going to give it a "middle of the road" three stars. The material and workmanship are well done, it is sturdy, and the zippers don't feel cheap. The netting with elasticity is a nice touch and it seems to hold your system, items, and games very well. However, while I can recommend the case, I recommend with caution. The reason for the 2-star review is that while the case is okay, it is not ideal and certainly not a 5-star product as other reviews may indicate. It holds everything fairly well, and I was able to even squeeze in the A/C wall charger like another reviewer, albeit with a bulge in the case. For the new 3ds XL though, which is what I have, the fit is extremely tight. One may think this is a good thing, but it's not so good when you want to get your system out for a quick gaming session and it is so tight that you literally have to bend the case back and up a bit to get the system out, and perhaps even flip the zipper inside out to be able to do so. I felt like I was going to damage some of the shoulder buttons on the new 3ds XL when I did this. (I will also confess that I do have a duriflex clear protector on my 3ds which adds a millimeter or two of thickness, but not so much that the fit should be this tight). My recommendation is to not put your system behind the netting if it is an "XL" model. For regular 3ds system, it's probably fine.My main reason for the low rating though is that this case absolutely REEKED of cigar/cigarette smoke smell. I had to completely spray the case with non-toxic odor remover twice, and hang it on in the breeze and direct sunlight all day - and some of the smell remains. Not only this, but it was so bad that the plastic from the duriflex protector absorbed some it as well. Luckily, my 3ds itself does not now stink, but it's hard to sit down and play a game when all you're thinking about is how much my system now stinks thanks to the case. If you live in a household that smokes anyway, this is certainly not a game changer, but for non-smokers, the stink may be unbearable unless you're willing to try to get the smell out with an odor remover or something else. I was considering a return, but it's probably not worth it.Bottom line: While the case is well made and will be nice to carry your system around it (as long as it sits on top of the netting for easy removal), the stench is quite nigh unbearable.Update: Without me initiating anything, the company issued me a full refund, and was very nice in their email communication. I stand by my original review, but I've edited it because of the OUTSTANDING customer service that is very rare in 2015.

The case looked appealing, it had a nice carry strap that you can clip on to each side of the case to be able to throw it over your shoulder and carry around. The only reaso for a two star review was that it didn’t fit the console and the charger together in the case at the same time.

Case is very compact, nice that I can hold my games. The pouch for the 3DS however, SHOULD NOT be a pouch at all. This case should instead use rubber bands to hold the 3DS down. The mesh pouch works, don’t get me wrong, but the device is so snug that it’s a pain to get it out again. You have to maneuver your fingers in a way that only then, you can remove the 3DS. Against a rubber band solution, this is much more annoying to deal with. The usage of rubber bands would make the case so much better and easier to use.
