Secret Diary of a Call Girl Review: Interesting - Interesting light reading if you aren't the blushing type and have a sense of humor. If you are at all familiar with erotic literature nothing in this book will shock you. This book was turned into a popular tv series and lots of other books have been published but almost all the source material was (and perhaps still is) available on her blog, where Belle posted lots of tips and anecdotes. Where the blog was more random, the book tells more of a story. Good to pick up and read if you like autobiographies or are fascinated by working girls. I really enjoy reading stories about call girls and such, it's a very different lifestyle from my own and I find it interesting like I'm sure a lot of people do. The psychology/mindset of working girls is interesting to me and this book offers a glimpse of that. Very mildly sexy. This is not going to get you going like traditional erotic literature. Belle is candid about her feelings toward her clients (they're not always so sweet) and leaves out many details that would have turned this into a literotica novel. I enjoy light reading like this when I take a break after completing a long series or dark or depressing novel so this is perfect for those times when you aren't sure what to read next and want to take a mental break. Review: Very In Your face, Quite Interesting - I had never read the blog. One day i was watching "Hardtalk" on BBC and there she was giving up the anonymity. The best thing for me was to be able to read it (In 5 minutes, it was on my kindle) without a single judgmental bone in my body which is a personal experience i'm working on. She's brave and did what she had to do, don't see how it makes me better if i target rich men in order to date them for their money. Only thing is i might be able to say No to some of the really Hardcore stuff but besides that i have fantasized about giving myself a birthday present of a Good-looking, pleasant Male Escort. I do not know what is wrong with the world but dating used to be so easy now everyone's pretending to be on their iphone, ipad, laptop, anything to avoid eye contact with anyone! The London she described was so spot on, i'd love to ride on the train with the Author for the laugh's. I like to know that my observations about everyday life is not a unique thing. Recommended it to so many friends. BIG PROBLEM: So many copycats in the stores, if the Author ever sees this, you may want to put some thing unigue on the cover such as : As seen on BBC or something to sift it out of the rest.

Not good but acceptable
Discribed as "Used good" yet has a lot of pencil markings where things are shakily underlined to include overlaping the text or pencil mark scribbles in margins... like some kid was just randomly going through marking it up. Is all still readable, though I would not categorize as "good" especially since not just underlined but on the actual text making difficult to read.

Spoiler Alert!
I should have read the books before watching the show but I'm honestly glad I didn't. I ordered the books for $0.01 and paid $3.99 for shipping. I was given NO tracking information and each book took 2-3 weeks to arrive. At that point I'd finished the TV series and dove right into the books. Her encounters are entertaining and you can tell she was born to be a writer. SPOILER ALERT: If you're curious about the girl behind "Belle" then look up Brooke Magnanti. If you don't want to know then don't look and you can't say it spoiled anything for you. Whether or not you believe everything she wrote, it's still worth a read.

Don't be taken in by the sex
Yes, there is a lot of sex in this but what you must really do is pull it apart and look at what is beneath it. What I see is a person who likes to manipulate and control people. and on top of that she is a mediocre writer at best. She may have sex with women, but she does not like them. A friend describes her as amoral and I wonder how that plays out in her in the world of science? How many of the people that she works with in science are smarter then she is? Take for example the entry for V on page 246, and what she tells you to do. Now what this indicates is that she has had problems that she has not told her customers about and that she has had to be treated for something. Now you have to wonder did she get something from a client, and if she did, did she give a problem to men that they passed on to their wives/partners? Plus it is interesting to see how she toys with incest. Plus look at how much of her interaction with men has to do with power. When you look at the clients and her relationships you get a very clear picture of how men control relationships they set the standard and it is a woman's or partners job to reach that mark and then the man will move the mark again and make that person reach the new one. Brooke Magnanti aka Belle de Jour is married now and I bet that her husband must be so proud of being married to one of London's best and I bet he loves the envy he gets from other men and the pride he takes in showing her off. Think of all the sexual skill he gets to enjoy every night. But I wonder, has he ever cheated on her?

Sexy, funny and no holds barred!
I thought this was a great book! The writer has a hysterical viewpoint of her life as a call girl, and writes a really entertaining story! The main character has a great personality that shines through and as we follow her day to day issues and adventures, I found it remarkably refreshing to read about someone so comfortable with their own sexuality, who actually enjoys sex and enjoys her job! No laments about how shameful this is, or how demeaning....She is fine with her choices and seems so mentally healthy! How wonderful! No damsel in distress, no poor downtrodden, shame filled whiner...she is funny, alive and happy. Great book!

AG

This is not a PSA about how prostitution sucks. But it is rather funny to read, as the writing style in entertaining.

I liked the book, I loved the series secret diary of a call girl so I thought I would read the book and it was good I finished it in about 3 days. I received the book about a week after I bought it, it was cheap and in good condition for a used book.
