VIPRE IS THE ANSWER!
After many trials & error with other security software, as well as the expense involved - I find VIPRE Internet Security to be the best on the market for my home P.C. Previously I needed to pay the vendor, besides paying for the security, to download my security package due to the instructions that made no sense to me & were pages long. Not only was I able to download VIPRE myself but it is more than "user friendly" to navigate. I've come to totally rely on VIPRE & will not look at other security software in the future. In the long run, you get what you pay for; plus, after seeing the marketing results on where VIPRE fits in amongst other software, VIPRE came out as being at the top. That's good enough for me. Don't be alarmed when you receive the VIPRE box as the only thing in the box is a slip of paper! No disc! But on this slip of paper is the key to download the software - it's totally a "ticket to ride"! VIPRE Vorever!

Vipre lets through trojan – tech support tries to charge me $600 to fix non-existent problems they say resulted
That’s a serious accusation and a strong reason not to buy Vipre. Let me tell you my story and you can judge whether it’s justified.A Thursday in January I’m working on a client project from my home office, go to one of their clients’ websites and download some files. Open one of them Friday and Vipre tells me it has prevented an intrusion attempt. I’m surprised, still need the file, go to the website again and as soon as I get there get another intrusion attempt, which Vipre says it has dealt with. OK, I sent a note to the site owner and told him it seems he’s been hacked. At the end of the day, start a full system scan. Saturday morning I check the computer, Vipre tells me it has detected a trojan but cannot delete or quarantine it. I send a note to tech support, they say download Vipre 2014, install, and run a scan in safe mode – that should take care of it. But Vipre 2014 will not install. Now I phone them. The technician I connect to has me download remote control software, looks at my machine, brings up a number of files and says I have a serious problem, look at all the files that are corrupted. But since this is a trojan, and thus something I downloaded, not part of their free service. They need to charge me $200 - and they want my credit card. I say, I have BounceBack and can wipe out the whole hard drive and restore and get rid of the trojan that way. But the guy says no, this can affect every computer on my home network, that won’t fix it. So I pay.So one technician starts on my HP workstation, this guy talks to my daughter, who is visiting and working from her laptop plugged into my network. He remotes in, points out files on her laptop that he says are evidence that she’s been hit. But no, she’s uncomfortable. It’s her employer’s machine. Says she will talk to her IT department. Hangs up with him and calls IT. She reads them the file names and they say, no, those are legitimate files that are part of the operating system – sometimes a trojan can take over these files but, after talking to her for a while, they conclude that she has no problem. In the meantime, the technician has remoted into my second machine, a laptop, and says, hey, look at all these bad files. OK, I say, can you fix this? Yes, and should they I charge the same credit card? Wait a minute, I’ve already paid you $200. Oh, no, it’s $200 per machine – funny didn’t we explain that? - $600 total if we count my daughter's laptop. I say, I’m going to run a full Vipre scan (have 2014 on the laptop) and call him back if I find a problem. He backs off. The scan turns up nothing, and when I check the files carefully later on, I see that they are random error messages that have nothing to do with the trojan. The laptop has shown no signs of any problem to this day.Back to my workstation. I watch the second technician run various malware programs and a registry clean program, then he tries to install Vipre 2014. It won’t install. I have to leave – give him my cell phone number. He keeps working. Several hours later he calls, says it’s all fixed, but when I get home that evening I see he has wiped out all my administrator settings, my screen background is gone, all the changes I made to the task bar – and checking farther I find I can’t open any Adobe programs; other programs want me to register again or reinstall certain components. OK, the technicians would say it was the trojan that did all this damage, but all that software worked properly before they took over my computer. And the last thing – they never did install Vipre, but installed Kaspersky instead. So, Sunday I got out my BounceBack drive and used it to reformat the hard drive and restore my operating system and software (which is what I wanted to do in the first place). Here’s what I believe happened. I should tell you I was running Windows XP 64 bit, which has always been kind of an orphan and hard to find software that runs on it properly. I’m pretty sure that Vipre 2014 will not run on XP-X64, although 2012 and 2013 did, and that was the problem I had trying to install it. And so these technicians were not able to install it either. Not understanding the problem, they kept trying things until they pretty much destroyed my computer. I may be wrong about that, but in any event, the support was poor at best. The thing I cannot forgive, however, was telling me that two laptops were corrupt when they weren’t, telling me my network was corrupt when it wasn’t, and trying to sell me a total of $600 worth of service, at least $400 of which was completely unneeded. Their approach was very much like the furnace or waterproofing companies who try to burn elderly homeowners for thousands of dollars in repairs that they don’t need. There are other reviewers noting this same approach under other Vipre versions, though there seems to be some confusion as to who is trying this scam. This is not Sunbelt Software anymore – they were good people but tech support changed when they sold the company to Threat Track. I called the support number on the Vipre website and got these scammers. This is Vipre support doing this.Do you really want to deal with these guys?

Downloaded free Vipre and got a virus
I can't believe it. I downloaded Vipre from their website. When I went to my browsers, Firefox and Chrome I found that I had downloaded Trovi virus along with their virus protection. Trovi takes over your searching engines on all your browsers. (Trovi is a browser hijacker) I called Vipre for technical support and told them what had happened. The tech tried to fix the problem and could not do it.He said that I would have to use their Microsoft certified technician to fix the problem. To do that I would have to subscribe to their tech support for around $175 a year to fix the problem. It was a very hard sell and I told him no. So their website caused the problem and I would have to pay to fix the problem?? I would not get anywhere's near this company.
