Young Guns [Blu-ray]

A 2 star movie, but giving 3 stars for the cast.
Wow, I was pretty surprised to see how bad this movie is. Really confused by the positive reviews. Tombstone was only a few years later and was a 5 star movie, this movie is a 2 star in comparison. City Slickers is honestly a better 'Western' movie than this one if that gives you an idea how bad this movie is.The acting is poor, the music doesn't match the scenes, the cinematography is below average, and the plot is circular and doesn't make any progress. They seemed to confuse a Southern accent with a Western accent as well, so that was painful. Especially since they weren't consistent about the accent. Action scenes are very bad, with usage of slow motion when it doesn't make sense. Drug use and the gore factor didn't help. Of course violence is expected, but it was a bit too gruesome.Seems to be EXTREMELY low budget, so maybe all of the money went to the cast? It was cool to see the little town they filmed in, it seemed much more realistic. I later found out it was an actual town, so that's probably why.It was however great to see such a great cast. Unfortunately the directing was so bad that none of the actors could have acted their way out of a wet paper bag. Really disappointing.Charlie Sheen has always been a bad actor, and this movie is no different. Emilio Estevez is even worse. Kiefer and Lou are horrible. Jack Palance was the only decent actor.

Love Young Guns
I got both Young Guns 1 and 2 blu ray. Some reviews seemed to suggest the first movie had crappy video quality so I was expecting it to be a bit grainy on my 70 inch screen TV but it looked fine to me. Not sure if my TV or PS 4 has some sort of upscale technology that makes my experience differ from others. I mean it wasn't as sharp as more modern movies filmed with HD cameras but I still thought it looked fine.As for the movies themselves I felt like Emilio Estevez did a great portrayal of Billy the kid. Enough moments of laughs and action to entertain most casual fans of the Wild West genre of movies.

Pretty good movie, not quite what I remembered though.
Pretty good movie, not exactly what I remember from years ago. Not perfect to what is in history books, but enjoyable.

Great Acting!!!!
What strikes me most about this movie, while widely inaccurate according to the true story of the Lincoln County Regulators, is just how amazingle almost identical Emilio Estevez resembles the real William H. Bonney aka Billy The Kid!! Just pure amazing. And also, according to the true accounts of the characteristics of Billy The Kid, Estevez portrays him to a T!! The true kid, as told by people that knew him, was jokingly and witty and laughed kind of like a hyena!! And Estevez's character acts the exact same way in both movies, I j6st think everyone of these young actors were perfect for their parts. However, Estevez as Billy The Kid just plainly steels the show in Both movies.I think it would have been awesome to live back during Old West times and ride and fight alongside Billy The Kid!! I can see he and I would of been great friends. It would of been the same exciting awesomness to of played in this movie with these great actors, especially Estevez. I also think it is just about time for a Young Guns remake. I mean, they are remaking all these other lackluster movies. Why not remake the blockbuster movies such as this one?

Although not 100% historically accurate this is probably the best movie about Billy the Kid.
Great movie for western film lovers and those interested in Billy the Kid and the Lincoln County War in New Mexico. I was pleasantly surprised by the picture quality of the Blu-ray disc as some reviews I had previously read indicated it was not that good. And the sound quality for owners of a surround sound system will have you believing that you are in the middle of a Wild West gun battle.

Great Fun!!!
No this movie is not historically accurate even when you add in the sequel " Young guns 2" while coming closer it still doesn't stick to historical accuracy. That being said both movies together cover the " Billy the Kid " mythos quite well & are a lot of fun to watch. As I stated before Young Guns & its sequel are not 100% historically accurate they do touch on a lot of elements that were true to history. As with any " Folk Hero" time has a way of obfuscating the facts, forever blurring them & making it almost impossible to tell the story 100% accurately. Just like Napoleon said " The Winners write history." This tends to leave a lot of wiggle room for Folk hero's like William Wallace, Ned Kelly & of course Billy the Kid when their story's get told. History aside this is a thrill ride of a movie & any hard core western fan would be happy to add this & its sequel to their collections.

Was feeling nostalgic. Ahhh the 90s brat pack (Keifer/Charlie/Emilio and Louie =P) Great film for one who always found westerns tedious )
