I decided to purchase this tripod despite the low review; it was on sale and I needed one for taking both photos and videos. Fantastic tripod! I use it with my Canon 70D and 18-135 lens. Didn't have any issues with the stripping, I've been using it for over 4 weeks so far and it's great, for photo or video.Maybe there was a bad sample? IDK. But overall this tripod is well constructed and sturdy but not heavy at all and works great. Plus it comes with a case.

This is a very nice and sturdy tripod, and I probably would have given it five stars, EXCEPT one leg was manufactured incorrectly, and kept falling out of it's socket every time I picked the tripod up, AND the cinch bolt on the axis used to rotate the platform for portrait use was apparently stripped. An instruction sheet might have cleared up the last problem, but there was none in the package.
