The only problem I have had is soaking the crystals too long and expands the crystals too big and the case breaks open. The crystals spill out! If that happens just let it dry out and snap the case back together

Holds more moisture than sponges

This humidifier is great. I replace a small 2oz cup type humidifier that was ancient with this new one. I took my 50 cigar desktop humidor from 55% to 80% overnight.I filled up the humidifier with distilled water and let it sit for an hour per the directions. The beads swelled up and it looked very full. This morning I went to check the humidity and the case had split from the pressure of the swollen beads. Some beads spilled out, and I could not get them all back in the case. I taped the humidifier case shut in both ends to keep it from popping open again, and put the remaining beads in a shot glass inside the humidor. The dry humidifier is definitely overfilled, but that’s not a huge deal. The beads that spilled did dampen the floor of my humidor, but it should dry out in a day or two.All in all, great product. The case could be better sealed/secured, or filled with less beads. I’ll see where the humidity levels out after a week.

It does do what you see in reviews. It expands and blows up and the beads pop out. Just pull out the extra, bottle it back up and it works perfectly, simple fix. The reason I give it such a high review is it works so damn well and its not a huge inconvenience to fix. I would put it in your humidor after you use distilled water for an hour and see what it does overnight before you put cigars in.

This was a cheaper price than any cigar store online. It was very helpful....possibly too helpful. I did not read the description here on Amazon but when it arrived the box had some writing on it stating that it humidified 100-150. I really didn't think it meant that many cigars are covered for humidification but a couple of soft not too spongey cigars later I found out that it's indeed designed to store that many cigars. I would recommend opening this unit & removing the beads to only using around 40 pellets as they will expand & get bigger about the size of a green pea. Do not follow the instructions to use ALL the beads & fully submerge the unit in distilled water. It will pop open the unit because there's too many beads included plus limiting the amount of beads will safely humidify a smaller amount of cigars. Only use ALL the beads if you have 100-150 cigars, but still take the beads out & put them in a cup filled with distilled water. If you use all the beads after plunging the unit in distilled water then place the unit in your humidor it will pop open & spill all over inside the humidor & possibly ruin your cigars & humidor as mold may form. Some have made that mistake by not taking the beads out to get activated in a separate cup. You have to give them time to fully expand after an hour they should be ready to be put back in the blue unit & placed in your humidor. Good Luck

I bought two humidifiers. I added water and waited one hour per the directions. The crystals expanded so much that the two halves of both humidifiers came apart and the crystals went all over. I was able to reassemble them by leaving many crystals out. I don't know how this will affect how well it will work now.

I use these in my wooden desktop humidors with distilled water. They work absolutely wonderfully and stay filled for much longer than the cheap green foam ones. I keep a 69% boveda pack in there to regulate the humidity a little more prescisely and life's good.
