Love is a risk worth taking in this sizzling romance about secrets and second chancesโฆ Scarlett Devereauxโs life on the Gulf Coast went from riches to rags so scandalously fast that she barely had time to kiss her Jimmy Choos goodbye. Now, with a new alias (Lily Barns), a new budget (tighter than a pair of Spanx), and a new job on the vacation island of Angel Fire Falls, sheโs daring to reinvent herself. Single dad Trace Remington is devoted first and foremost to raising his young son, who has Aspergerโs. With flying his floatplane and salvaging his familyโs island resort too, he has time for little else. His brothers think he needs a break from his all-work-no-play lifestyle, so they goad him into action. In response to their dare, Trace asks a sexy tourist for her number, only to discover afterward that sheโs the resortโs brilliant new hospitality manager. The sparks of flirtation soon ignite into a flame too hot to ignore. But Lily and Trace both have pasts that threaten to tear them apart. Now, theyโll need to admit their secrets to each otherโฆor risk ending their relationship before it really begins. An incredible start to this series. I can't wait for more!
This book has some cussing (including a few f-bombs) and some sex, but neither thing is overwhelming or over-done, they fit perfectly into the flow of the story. I have read every book that Shelly Alexander has written thus far and really enjoyed all of them, but this was my absolute favorite. I found myself struggling to put it down because I needed to know what happened with Trace and Lily and Ben โ to the point where I took my Kindle with me when I was cooking dinner and when I wasn't reading I was thinking about the characters. I love it when a book draws me in like that. Trace was the epitome of a swoon-worthy single father. He loved Ben with all of his heart, and he did everything he could to keep him safe and happy. What's not to love? Lily was also really amazing. I adored her determination and the way that she wasn't willing to let anything beat her, no matter how ridiculous she looked in the process. I loved the fact that these two developed a real relationship before falling into bed together โ that they had a foundation of friendship before jumping into sex makes me believe in their happily ever after. The humor that was weaved throughout this book was unbelievable. I found myself laughing out loud more than once, and I highlighted dozens of moments that I wanted to be able to go back and re-read for a laugh. If this book doesn't make you laugh, you should check your pulse. *slight spoilers in this paragraph only* One of my favorite things about this book was the way Ms. Alexander dealt with Ben's Asperger's. As the aunt of a boy with high-functioning Asperger's, I always grimace when it appears in books, but Ms. Alexander absolutely nailed it. Ben's quirks and uniqueness were never bigger than his personality and his heart, and to me that's how it should be. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a really great romance story between two hilarious and likable characters, or if you enjoy a sweet, wonderful single dad romance story. I can't wait for the second story in this series!

Funny, Crazy, Steamy, Amazing
Dare Me Once is book number one in the Angel Fire Falls series. This is Scarlett Devereaux's "Lily Barns" and Trace Remington's story. Lily and Trace's characters were funny, crazy, and amazing. They were so much fun! Lily was hired by Trace's dad to put some life back into their resort. Trace and Lily's first meetings will make you laugh and smile. The chemistry between them is off the charts. I can tell you this when I hear the words massage, ducks, kiddy swimming pool, tricycle, bicycle, planes, game of darts or pool I will remember this amazing, funny, and steamy story. You just have to read this book to understand. Oh my! This book just hit the spot for me. It was funny, crazy, emotional, heartwarming, wonderful characters, and the chemistry was hot! Ben, Trace's young son, added so much to the story and so did Trace's brothers. The interaction between the Remington brothers was just priceless. They sound like a fun group to be around. I cannot wait to read the other Remington brothers' stories. The Remington family are ones that I would love call my friends. Looking forward to the next books in the Angel Fire Falls series. FYI, contains mature content.

Sweet Story!
I always enjoy Shelly Alexander's stories, and this is no exception! I enjoyed Trace & Lily's love story, especially the way Lily and Ben bonded and also fell in love. A couple of small things caused me to subtract a star. First, Lily's privilege didn't ring true. Her work ethic was too strong, and she too seamlessly slipped into a more casual, laid back persona. If she'd been at wealthy as suggested, she might have had a much tougher time. It worked a little more that her family was nouveau riche, but just barely. Also, I had a tough time swallowing her supposed Bourbon Street experience given her alleged wealth. Another issue I had was 8-year-old playing pool every day. I have an 8-year-old, and he's just barely getting to the point where he's tall enough to reach a standard height pool table to actually play. He wants to, though, because his siblings play. Ben has a ton of freedom for a kid that age, especially one on the spectrum, but I'll give a pass for that since the resort is like a really small town. The lack of supervision did bug me a bit, though. Overall, I really loved this book.

Sweet story with lots of heart and a few laugh out loud moments
As a single mom of a boy with high functioning autism, this story really hit home for me, big time! Touching, well written, heartwarming and believable. Steamy in a few places and funny in others... And always captivating. Loved it!!!

A great and enjoyable story.
Although I enjoyed some parts of the story I felt the pace was a little too slow for my taste. The Remington brothers caught my attention. I enjoyed Lily and her growing friendship with Traceโs son. Her relationship with Trace lacked a deeper connection. Overall a great romance.

Great book.
This was the first time I read a book by this author. I appreciate that every other word wasn't a curse word; shows me that the author has an imagination. Thank you. I loved the book and already bought the next in the series. โบ

Romance with often used plotline
The blurb sounded promising the execution was lacking. Single father, successful heroine who wants to start over, delapidated resort, autistic child - all ingrdients for an interesting novel. But - the author followed all the clichรฉ-plotlines, there is insta-lust, a lot of sex, the sudden appearence of the ex, threatening law-suits.... nothing you haven't read before. It was nice to read, but overall disapointing.
