Yakima Truck Bed Rack, Fixed Mid Height Heavy Duty Towers, Outpost HD (Towers Only)

When you have an older truck or an uncommon one, aftermarket support is little to none. The thing I love most about the Yakima Outpost and Yakima themselves is that it is a high quality product for nearly all platforms. It is a super easy install and extremely durable. I placed a roof top tent on mine right after I had installed the Yakima outpost and man, this thing is tough. No rattling. Doesn't come loose. It's awesome. Not only is it super strong and durable, but the parts are surprisingly light for the weight that it supports. I have my eyes on the side mounting bars to add fuel cans and other accessories. The only dislike or I guess con to this product, maybe this should be more directed to Yakima, is that I wish this was sold in an all in one unit. For those that don't know, you buy the base, the outpost and then you have to buy the cross members which can be sold out in certain places. Now i 100% understand why Yakima does it like this, because there are different lengths of crossmembers, I just wish there was another option to buy it as a pack. Other than that, I love this system and will continue to recommend this to others!

I continue to appreciate the design and engineering of Yakima products. This rack was easy to install and is very sturdy. It serves as a great platform for carrying the Smittybilt rooftop tent on my Chevy Colorado ZR2.

This rack is well made and would recommend this set up (so far and why I gave it 4 stars). I plan to put a roof top tent on it. I haven’t receive that yet but the rack is very solid and would be surprised if it didn’t hold up. Once I take it on the trail, the rating may go up to 5 stars (or down). Hopefully up to 5 stars . I chose this rack due the off road load rating. Was the highest that I found. Fit my 2005 Nissan Frontier factory tracks. You need to buy an additional kit to fit it on the factory tracks (which adds to the already expensive cost). Didn’t like that you have to buy everything separate but once I got all the parts in and stomached the cost, the set seems like it will hold up well. The system has anti theft screws and a locking device. Thought that was pretty cool. Overall- very good quality parts and expect it to hold up on my off-road adventures.

So far I like the very solid feel of it, I have put about 300lbs on it to test it out but nothing more but so far so good!!! Fits the 2019 ranger I have and adds great styling, use it for skis, snowboards, my Smittybilt tent, and an anchor point for top roping. The 1/4 inch groove I have placed bolts and my own diy mounts for gas tanks, traction pads, Basecamp lights and wiring without one problem.

Yakima HD Outpost, a very nice addition to my retrax xr tonneau cover. If you have a retrax xr model cover, you will need to buy the kit to install the Outpost onto the trac on the cover. Very easy to install and look very nice.

If you're like me, and struggle to pay attention to details, please notice that this rack does not come with the horizontal (Yakima HD) bars. It was a bit of an embarrassing surprise to realize that upon arrival. Aside from that, the product is excellent and very sturdy. I have a lot of confidence in the strength of these racks

This bed rack installed easily over my tonneau cover. I had only one issue - one of the two LOCKS wouldn’t seat. I wrote Apex Trader and they they responded quickly wanting to see a picture and description. I sent them a picture and description within the hour. Zero response from Apex Trader. Do not buy from Apex Trader.
