It is not an air conditioner. But this fan is taller than most, so it does a much better job of cooling a room, in my opinion.And it absolutely is not noisy, as some reviews stated; also, the blue light doesn't 'light up the whole house' as others have said. We absolutely love this fan. Hopefully you will too. **Q: What kind of screws dows this need to properly attach the base? My unjt arrived without hardware :(** A: I didn't know it needed screws. The base snaps together, then I twist locked the unit onto the base.
