Does this repel bears?

I'm ordering this for that very use. I live in Maine, highest black bear pop in E US. Camping soon. I've read several articles that recommend pine oil as #1 for use around camp to keep bears away. (Also good, but not as good, they claim: pine sol, ammonia, apple cider vinegar.) Reportedly, they can't stand the scent. If it works, maybe I'll report back here. :-o

Is it safe for septic system in rural areas?

I believe it is. It's pure pine oil

How thick? Smells strong?

It's thicker than pine sol, it's really strong and kills any bad smell. Really does deodorize, smell lingers for a couple of day's.

Can i use it on my skin for a bug repellany? Also, can it be used as a bear deterant?

No, absolutely not! These products are NOT intended for application to the skin. Let me copy directly from the label: "Causes irreversible eye damage. Causes skin irritation. Harmful if swallowed. Wear goggles or face shield and rubber gloves when handling this product. DO NOT get in eyes, ON SKIN, or on clothing. Thoroughly wash with soap and water after handling. Remove contaminated clothing and wash clothing before reuse." I hope I have answered your question in a way that you will clearly understand that this is not to be used on the skin.
