Fat Daddio's Stainless Steel Round Cake & Pastry Ring, 8 x 3 Inch

I haven't cooked with them yet, and may modify my rating after doing so, but these Fat Diddio's 4" food rings look great. all 6 (two this order, 4 last order) were perfectly round and brand new in their original plastic. Please note that if you want to use them to make hamburger buns, most recipes call for 6 to 8 food rings to act as molds for the hamburger bun recipe. Some even say 8 food rings, but I'm okay with just 6. When forming hamburger patties with your prepared hamburger meat, you will of course only need to use 1 ring as a mold, and place your finished 6 to 8 patties on parchment paper, then refrigerate them. Using the ring to produce the same sized 4" hamburger patties and 4" hamburger buns ensures the fit well together. What I liked about this food ring design is that it is 18 gauge stainless steel (professional quality) able to withstand 908 degrees Fahrenheit, which is well above what any home oven can produce.

I used this for a glass fusing project and it worked perfectly! Super huge savings as opposed to a ceramic mold. Excellent product!

I just purchased two cutters and noticed that the 2.5 x 2 cutter was not round on one end. These do appear to be of higher quality but still lack a bit of quality control. I did not find any burrs at all, they are sturdy and the welds were near perfect. Time will tell however, if the metal will remain rust free. One thing of note, a picture with the diameter/ height would have been helpful. Also, I would have purchased a set of various diameters (with the same height of course) but I did not see those available.

It is nice and heavy. Nice height to cut a little layer cake.

Basically this is a slice of stainless tube. But it is not terribly over priced, and it is convenient to buy. The edges are not clean. They could have spend, I don't know, maybe 30 seconds with a wheel to smooth the edges. So I had to do that myself. The rough edges make it harder to clean. It's about 18 ga, rather thick, and does not easily deform. I used it for making mini cheesecakes, it worked perfectly. Since it appears to come from actual tubing, the roundness is pretty much spot on. The weld seam is visible but does not get in the way. Kind of annoying that somebody put a ridiculously gummy product sticker on it; took industrial alcohol to remove it.

This cake ring is pricey but it is solid. It is a very nice piece of baking equipment. It is good quality stainless steel and not flimsy at all. This will last forever. I hesitated to order it but once it arrived, I could see why it cost so much and I don't regret it at all.
