Basspro Hub - 11" powered subwoofer system, Black

Purchased a new 2025 Honda CRV and wanted to find something that would give the audio some sex appeal as a daily dad driver. I haven't had any aftermarket woofers in a decade because I couldn't compromise space. This is the perfect solution. Having had legitimate setups 10-20 years ago, I was skeptical about the range this thing would have. I spent about 6 hours with the install and struggled a bit as I had to tap into front door speaker wires themselves ( too many damn wires and connections in these modern vehicles to track them in clusters). Feeding speaker wires back through door rubber boots was a bit of a pain, as well as running the remote wire with the ethernet clip into my center counsel. I ran the power line through the main firewall boot above the brake pedal ( tight, but worked great for concealing).*you have to unplug the ANC noise canceling unit to avoid major feedback*. I thought the unit was deep in the dash close to the head unit and unplugged a major harness by accident. Turns out it just the silver box right on the immediate panel next to passenger door/glove box. The speaker line input replaces the need for the remote wire, and there is no need for a separate line out converter as this unit handles it all.Ultimately it's a great little unit to add depth and spunk. I honestly have both the gain and boost at less than a 1/4 turn each and its the perfect depth to any music. I have young kids and I don't want to be constantly adjusting when family is in the car. I don't review much, but since I was scouring the internet on install help, I feel obligated to pay it forward with my feedback. 5/5 in my book.

First off, this isn't going to rival a decent 10" ported box and amp, or rattle your clothes and bones like a couple of 12s. It is going to give you ample low end that will shake your mirrors, and give you a bit of that bass you feel with excellent rolling low end.I wanted an easy install, out of sight sub solution to add much needed low end in my old Outback without losing cargo space--this ticked all of those boxes perfectly. This is solid on hip-hop/rap tracks, outstanding for rock, and balanced for other tracks such as folk, classical, etc.Clean and tight attack when properly "tuned"/balanced, and thunderous when you want it to be. The remote is a bit large but fantastic controls, especially if you gamble with the sonic variances of certain music platforms that aren't leveled.Included tie down will likely need cut down, but that is an easy adjustment. I couldn't be happier. It won't shake your bones to dust, and I didn't want that. This sub is fantastic for what it is. Fit perfect into my 15" full size spare. Ran true 10 AWG wiring and 30A fuse off battery (don't buy a cheapo kit). Runs flawlessly.Update: I see a lot of nice dynamat or similar sound deadening installs. I eliminated all trunk space rattle with a foam puzzlemat square under my spare with a whole cut in center for tie down pass through. Not as elegant, but super cheap, easy, and effective. Some VERY minimal rattle outside in the rear of the roof.

Had concerns about one speaker and lower wattage that wasn't technically in a box. Put this in my 2024 Nissan Z. Man, I am not disappointed. Hits really hard and will rattle your ears. I replaced the wimpy Bose sub with this.

I installed this in a 2023 Mazda CX5 six-speaker non-Bose. Everything was relatively straight forward... power cable run through the grommet in the CX5 firewall, ground cable to one of the 2nd row seat bolts. I struggled through several YouTube videos to get signal to the Basspro... 2023 CX5s do not have a harness that is compatible with the PAC line-out converter, so I had to posi-tap the rear speakers at the B-pillar in order to get signal. Even these were a bit of a wishing-well toss as I had conflicting information about what color wires to tap, but somehow I guessed correctly on the first try. Remote-turn-on via an Add-a-fuse on the Power Window 7.5 amp fuse slot. There was a learning curve to removing the trim panels for the CX5, but if you take your time, google EVERYTHING and read EVERYTHING about it from every source you can find, you won't have too much trouble.Now to the performance of the Basspro Hub. It comes with this great little wired remote control... I have mine going under the rear seat and across the rear passenger transmission hump before tucking under the trim of the center console and coming out in the small storage well underneath the CX5 climate control knobs... this remote is great to play with but I found such widely varying performance in the CX5 that I began to have my doubts if it would every sound good. For me... a bass guitar note should be the same volume level whether it is a low note or a high note... I don't want one note to be a loud boom and the others to be quiet. The Basspro Hub was very frustrating initially. Tapping into the rear speakers (only option I had) via Kicker KISLOC line-out converter left me with a setup where A) the CX5 factory head-unit's bass-level adjustment effected not only the door speakers but also the sub, and B) the front/rear fade adjustment also effected the sub. So I had to coordinate factory head-unit settings with the Basspro Hub remote control settings to get everything right. Here's where I landed: CX5 head unit: Bass all the way up, treble half way up, front/rear/left/right balance dead in the center. Basspro Hub remote: Gain and Bass Boost knobs at 9:00, Crossover at 1:30, Phase button pushed IN.With these settings, combined with the head-unit settings I described, the Basspro Hub sounds perfectly integrated with the door speakers. Top notch!

This thing bumps harder than my previous 800w skar setup, and its completely concealed. Love this thing

I have a 2019 Jeep Cherokee, and it came with the 8.4" display with Nav and the stock 6 speaker stereo. Which, frankly, didn't sound very good, but admittedly wasn't terrible but left a lot to be desired in producing the full range of frequencies of the music.First, I traded out the 6 stock speakers with 6 new ones from JustForJeeps, which was a huge improvement over the stock paper speakers. The next day, I had the JBL Sub installed by a professional. Once it was in and the install was over, it was a great sounding system! The sub complimented the other speakers very well and I was able to turn down the bass on my head unit to the 6 speakers and let them focus mainly on highs and mids, while the sub really pushed out the low frequencies. And it is definitely loud enough. Being that my vehicle is a hatchback, there's no back seat to diminish the sound volume or quality, so it makes a big difference.If anyone is looking for a great quality and great sounding sub that doesn't take up any cargo space and will be a perfect addition to a stereo system in a vehicle with a hatchback, I would say you can't go wrong with the JBL. It has a 200w RMS class D amplifier built in, which I favored over the Cerwin-Vega spare tire sub because that one only had a 150w RMS amp. I don't remember if the CW was class A/B, but I know it wasn't listed as class D. So with a more efficient class D amp putting out more power, the JBL was more appealing in that way.I would definitely recommend this.

Pretty good idea for concealing a small subwoofer in a factory system. While you wont be shattering the windows, it definitely provides the missing bass from an "amplified" factory car stereo. Installed it in a 2014 Elantra Limited W/NAV and factory external amp. I have a temporary spare tire in this car (most just have the slime/air compressor set up), and it fits nicely in the spare. The extended hold down rod supplied with the kit is poorly made, and I ended up having to order some metric all-thread in order to make a good hold-down. I also had to put some 1/8" closed cell foam between the sub and the rim to prevent a vibration. I routed the control up to front, and on most music the variations in recorded bass is not enough to have to readjust, but in newer recordings, I find I'm turning the input down because it gets overwhelmed. Not a big deal, but would be easier if the back lighting actually showed what you were adjusting rather than just a circle indicating where a knob is. Small complaint, but after a few times you pick it up without looking. Sound quality is very good. It seems to be designed to compliment a stock factory "upgraded" stereo system, and does it very well. I noticed no 'bass roll off' from my particular unit, and once the crossover and boost are set, the only one you end up adjusting is the gain, as described earlier. All in all, I would recommend it for those seeking an upgrade to the factory sound, without carrying 150 lbs of woofers, and amps sliding all around in the trunk.

This product is certainly not suitable for me, especially at the price point of $500. It lacks any significant bass and feels overpriced, leaving me quite disappointed with this purchase.On a positive note, the compact size, which allows it to function as a spare tire, is a commendable idea. However, I wish it could deliver a more robust bass sound, at least a noticeable punch.One learns from experiences like these, but I would not recommend this item to enthusiasts who prioritize bass. I have no offense toward JBL; perhaps they should focus more on Bluetooth speakers rather than products aimed at delivering hard-hitting bass.No,worries JBL I love love your Bluetooth speakers they rock!!

Install was easy after getting running cables to it. Easy disconnect if you need to remove it for the spare. Nothing groundbreaking for this sub but would definitely get again for another vehicle for not taking up any trunk space while still giving the needed kick in audio.

As i experienced many subwoofers like Blaupunkt, Sony and hypersonic, they were average in my opinion, but when i bought this massive JBL Basspro Hub, it actually justify its name Basspro hub.But it doesn't fits into my Brezza 2023, cause of spare wheel tighten dimensions.Highly Recommended!!

Great subwoofer for my vehicle and use. Easy to install and configure with the ability to run off either RCA from the head unit or off rear speakers from the car. Fits well in spare tyre space. For the price - excellent. Sub control is very good. Easy to dial in gain and frequency response. Quality build. Dont cheap out on other brands.
