Q: Does back open from top to bottom -does not have to go over head?

No. It does have to go over the head. The opening does go up as high as the bottom of the shoulder blades but then it is 'normal' up to the neckline. Obviously the opening does not show because of the overlap of fabric until it is pulled apart when sitting down on the toilet. My mum had two of these nighties and found them very helpful. Hope this answer helps.

Yes I’m sure it can they wash up well
