The strap must be run through the locking system twice.
The strap must be run through the locking system twice. We did once in top, the second underneath and pulled sideways, out. It's very tight, licked in place, but because of the top strap locking the one underneath strap, it take some learning to undo. But it will never loosen

Mandatory accessory for all GoPro users!!
AMAZING INVESTMENT if you own a GoPro!!!!!!! In fact, if you own a GoPro then this accessory is a mandatory one. I use this mount on the back of my hand and take amazing video while scuba diving, cave tubing, bike riding, skiing, and hiking in the mountains. In fact, this strap works better and costs less than the actual wrist strap. Also, while on the back of your hand, you will always have the camera out and ready for the spur of the moment videos you might need. To use this on the back of your hand, you begin by placing the soft foam side on the back of your hand. Bring one strap around the outside of your hand, over your palm, and behind your thumb then secure it. Next, bring the other strap around the inside of your hand between your thumb and index finger, over your palm, to the outside of your hand and secure it. Now tighten the straps, but not too tight because you will realize that when you hand is in a fist, the straps tighten (and you will always want to shoot video with your hand in a fist otherwise your fingers will be in the video). Once the GoPro is snapped in place, use the quick-release vibration plug to secure the camera. Also, you can tether the GoPro to the straps, thus making it near impossible to lose the GoPro. And there you have it, a cheap and easy hand mount that can be used in the water, on a hike, in the snow, etc….

Easy to put on... captures what you want
What I like:1) fits my helmet2) pretty secure when cinching it down3) mounts just workWhat I don't like:1) you can't cinch it down with the gopro mount on: the thumbscrew gets in the way2) the extra nylon straps flap in the wind3) the nylon strap ends are starting to fray slightly...needs more heat to seal up.

Holds the Light
Use it to hold a bike light when mountain biking and it does a surprisingly good job of holding the light stable. I expected the mount to slide on the helmet or wobble but it does nothing of the sort. My intent was to remove it when not in use, but it is enough work to uninstall and reinstall that it will probably live on my helmet going forward. More practice might help speed up the installation. One knock is it didn't come with the adapter that snaps into the mount, which I didn't realize until it was delivered; a more thorough review of the listing might have made that obvious. Overall happy with the performance.

Alternate use: Backpack strap - mountain biking
Sometimes i use this on my helmet but it gives an odd high vantage point, but it works. My preferred use scenario is to attach it to my ride pack shoulder strap. Though it doesn't offer crystal clear video and it is shakey it offers a really cool vantage point of the action. When i use the backpack strap setup it shows the trail of course but also shows a little of my face and bike. The footage also seems much faster than it does when its attached to my head. In addition you dont have this giant camera hanging on your head which adds to some head bob.How to do this? Simply find an area where you want the camera to face, take note of how you ride and how you position your body to get the best results. After that just run the loops as tight as you possibly can and keep in mind your body will be the mounting point, you dont want it too loose. So the tighter you get it the better and the less movement it has on your body the better. The results will be clear enough, but not crystal clear due to stability issues. I've read that some people have made baseplates and such, which would be great, i just dont find it too much of an issue.Great price, order a couple when you see them on sale.

Plastic flimsy garbage
Absolute garbage. Flimsy plastic that doesn’t even hold the strap

Again really happy with the product
I was really surprised at how stable and solid the mount attached to my helmet. Because of the multiple air vents on most bike helmets the self stick that comes with the kit is impracticable as there is not nearly enough surface area. There were no instructions which would have been helpful but in the end it wasn't that hard to figure out how to set it up. There is a strap on each side with a snap down closure. What makes the mount so effective is there is medium density rubber attached on the bottom. When pressure is applied from each side strap the points of the vents go into the rubber to snug the mount in place. Even if by accident if the wearer opened one of the closures when turning the camera on or off the remaining strap will hold the mount in place thereby ensuring the mount and camera won't fall off. Again really happy with the product. As a few others have mentioned the product was the actual Go Pro product.

Even read the first review...
And I still didnt realize it doesnt come with a base plate. pretty stupid that all the photos make it look like it comes with one. Pretty stupid that I read the first review and still didnt realize it doesnt come with one. Im sure it'll eventually work- when I figure out how to attach my bike light to the base plate I dont have. Annoyed.
