Sound speaker
Excellent radio extension speaker, makes those mobile radios with under speakers ๐ sound much better with this external speaker. More than able to handle the audio output of cb or mobile Ham transceivers. Recommend.

Good loud sound
This speaker works great. I mounted my CB in my console which pretty much covers up the speaker on the unit. So I got an external speaker and glad I made this choice.

This speaker works great you just have to plug it the right type of jack!
I have seen a few posts with people saying they plugged it in to their scanner and the volume is way low. Here is what they are doing wrong. If you are buying this to use on a handheld scanner and plugging it into the earphone jack it will be very, very, very, low volume because an earphone jack DOSE NOT have the power to make the speaker work! A earphone jack only puts out enough power for a set of earbuds!! You need an amplified speaker if you're plugging into an earphone jack. I have a Uniden BCD536HP and when I plug this speaker into the front HEADPHONE jack the sound output is at a whisper at best. BUT on the back of the scanner there is an EXTERNAL SPEAKER jack and when you plug it into something that meant to power a speaker WOW nice and LOUD! The jack in the back puts out 5 watts of power and the headphone jack only puts out 4mW(milliwatt) of power. So here is another way to look at this. It takes 5000 milliwatts to = 5 watts or in my case the 4mW works out to be 0.004 watts and that's why this speaker will not work if you're plugging it into a headphone jack!

Decent speaker with some design flaws; NOT amplified
This is a properly designed speaker for good frequency response and clarity with voice comms. The listing says amplified, i.e. needing a separate power source, which it is NOT (model BC15). It is completely driven by the radio it is plugged in to. Two design flaws: 1) There is no strain relief on the speaker wire as it exits the cabinet. At 15 months of exlusive use in doors as a component of my ham shack, I've already had to de-solder the speaker wires from the PCB so I could cut out the cracked and exposed wiring, right at where the wiring leaves the cabinet. This does not qualify it as 'durable and rugged design' in my book. The fact that the plastic cracked so early on in it's use tells me it's of cheap quality. 2) The mounting bracket screw points are not well placed so that it maintains its center of gravity (if you don't want to permanently mount the bracket to a surface) and the unit will want to fall forward on its face. Yes, the bracket is meant to be mounted, but if you're working out of different rooms in your house the bracket does not serve well for free-standing placement. A small but significant issue. Unlike some speakers with noise reduction it is not simply an increased resistance switch that only dampens the over-all sound output but actually cleans up the sound with a minor volume decrease. Good speaker, just needs some refinements.

Shipped fast, nice speaker, plugged in and it worked
Item was as described, new in the box, and worked exactly as expected. Sound is good and is better than the stock speaker on my cb.

It does the job it is intended to do...no more, no less.
In order to record the transmissions from my SDS100 scanner directly to my computer, I must use the scanner's 3.5mm phone jack. However, by using the phone jack, I can no longer hear the transmissions through the scanner's internal speaker. Therefore, I needed an inexpensive external speaker. Uniden offers three choices of non-amplified speakers and the BC15 is the middle model. It's a 15-watt speaker which isn't particularly powerful but does the job for which it was designed. I use the speaker within my home and it has suitable volume and clarity for that environment. If you're looking for an external speaker to use in your car or truck or in a noisy environment, this will probably not be loud enough for you and you should go with an externally-powered amplified speaker instead. Do not be turned off by the few negative reviews of this item. Most of those reviews were written by people who clearly expected more from this speaker than it was designed and marketed to do. As I said before, the BC15 does the job it is meant to do. It's just a plain, inexpensive, no-frills external speaker that has good volume and clarity.
