The BDP-BX510 was quick and easy to setup
The BDP-BX510 was quick and easy to setup. It is my second Sony Blu-ray Disc Player and has even more applications than my first player. Since I have a Samsung Galaxy smartphone, I first tried a Samsung Blu-ray Player, as I thought applications on the Samsung smartphone could better control streaming to a Samsung player. I found that after setting up the Samsung player, the streaming from my Samsung Galaxy was not that convenient. The Samsung was a refurbished unit purchased elsewhere and did not play blu-rays. I returned it and ordered this open-box item from Amazon. The original box was rather beat up, but all the contents were like new, setup quickly, and performed all functions. This Sony unit streams directly from my desktop computer as well as the internet. The two usb ports make it handy for attaching wireless keyboard and mouse as well as an external drive.

Great player
The 3D conversion is the main reason I bought this player, and it works wonderfully (not full 3D, mind you, but for what it's worth, it works great). The interface is much like a PS3, so that took some getting used to, as I don't own one, but have seen one. The selection of apps is great. My only low point is that while Amazon Instant Video can do 3D conversion (a nice bonus), Vudu doesn't do that (probably hurts their 3D movie sales, but oh, well). All in all, a great player, and I didn't have to shell out for the HDMI cable, since this one came with one.Highly recommended!

It's a Sony
The WiFi is fast, there's no lag time in streaming Netflix or Amazon Prime. That is a comparison with the WD Live box I've been using for streaming. Easy to use. Once you set up with your home network, it's a go. Simple, nice price. Great Sony product with a nice price.

Great Product, but it going out of date quickly!
This is a great product, but it does not get updated regularly by Sony, I believe Sony is not giving the right support to keep all their product up to date, new services are coming out all the time and this is stock in the same service it came with as factory default and the updates do more harm then good. This product is Latin America does not fulfill anyone's expectations, as LG or Samsung to mention some brands. This is completely lack of subtitles when steaming videos to it from a cell phone or a media center, so if the movies or whatever you are watching is not in you original language, you would have to download it to a memory stick and use the USB slot, but watch out, because the subtitles usually, not to say always, shows wrong, with character that I've never seen in my live and still using google to identify them, probably from another planet (Extraterrestrial). But above all and in general it works great, the additional apps included in Opera and Samsung store are not good or helpful at all. So for this and more it give to it 4 stars

Noisy...may be better if bought new.
This is why I shouldn't buy used. It makes a lot of noise during start-up and while running disc but is quiet while playing a movie. I don't know if it's the product or if it is because it was delivered in awful shape. The box was torn and the blu ray player was freezing cold and moist because the freezing cold was allowed to go to it. I been keeping it in a wrapped up sweater hoping that was the case. I may return this soon. Again, it was used. So it may be great new.

I received this item and the batteries was in controller ...
I received this item and the batteries was in controller. It did not work, so put new ones in and worked for about a week. Now at times it won't let me pause on prime video and have to restart the the player. Then it got where can't even turn it off with controller or by the button on the player. I haven't been able to use the 3D part of it yet because am waiting for the glasses and a 3D movie to come it mail. Now won't even be able to try that out because of the problems with the player.

Works well for my needs
This Blu-ray player has all the features I need, plus many more that I don't find valuable. I purchased five of these units for a church, and they perform all necessary functions well. I am not a fan of the cheap plastic cabinet or the odd geometric shape on the top of the player, but the main concerns were reliability and ease of use. I appreciate how the BDP-BX510 is packaged with an HDMI cable while the identical BDP-S5100 does not. I believe the BDP-BX510 is marketed primarily in wholesale clubs while the BDP-S5100 is intended for the retail market. Same unit, different label. I cannot comment on the durability of these players, because they won't get as much use in the church as they would in a home environment. I use two older Sony Blu-ray players in my home, and the user interfaces are consistent, making their use that much easier. Other players offer better feature sets and audio/video qualities, but none of that was necessary for my application.
