Variety Pack

If you love top class coffee then you'll love these! The supermarket Dolce Gusto coffees are nothing like these - they taste old and flavourless by comparison! Beautiful crema and exquisite taste make these excellent value for money. If you miss your local Artisan coffee shop (and I'm not talking Starbucks or Costa here :D ) whilst you're locked up at home these are the next best thing. You want to make a Latte out of it? Heat the milk in microwave :D You're free to follow the recommended amounts of water in the supplied chart for each coffee type but why not live a little and just experiment until you get the coffee you love?

The coffee is good, excellent flavours. One serious problem - occasionally a capsule will leak, sending water outside the capsule and over whatever surface the machine is resting on. I have had to resort to keeping my capsule coffee machine in a washing-up bowl to contain the leaking water. It still wastes the bottled water I use to prevent lime scale in the machine.

Pros: They are possibly the best tasting coffee pods we’ve found - better than all the Dolce Gusto authentic ones, and even better than the Starbucks ones. They are strong, great flavour, and cost the same as buying the DG ones per pod. Cons: They aren’t recyclable, and they come in plastic bags which aren’t great for the environment nor storage (little thin boxes would be perfect!). Sometimes the pressure isn’t quite right and either comes out in a tiny super-slow stream, or makes the machine leak. However, it’s been almost a year of using them and the machine still works perfectly so clearly causing no damage, just a bit messy sometimes.

These do the job fine, but not compostable pods. Maybe I was expecting more from an independent roaster/manufacturer? The flavour is fine, but there are two types of coffee in the pack and no way of knowing which is which. They are perfectly acceptable, but there is no real difference in taste (maybe I got an unlucky batch?). As you can get double the quantity and fully compostable pods for a similar price I don't think I will purchase again.

Pleased I purchased the variety pack which offers a choice of 3 fairly similar coffees. The yellow is mild and offers a lasting crema. The red offers a slightly stronger taste, and the grey is somewhere in between. All are very palatable and the pods work very well in the dolce gusto machine. I find myself having a couple of different coffees back to back, since they are all very smooth and do not leave a bitter after taste. I thoroughly recommend them and will certainly be purchasing more. Price wise, they are very comparable with the dolce gusto Nescafé pods. Ditto for comments above, as I have just received my 4th purchase of these coffee pods! I will be submitting a repeat order. Highly delighted.

It is unfortunate to have to leave a poor review for these pods as the flavour is excellent on all 3. Unfortunately I have struggled to use them in my Dulce Gusto machine successfully, as 3 times out of the last 5 the pods have failed; the first time the top of the pod popped off as it was filling with water spraying hot coffee and grounds over me and my kitchen surface. The second time was similar just less dramatic and then the 3rd time (just now) barely any liquid was coming out and then the machine told me it had a "Blocked Head". Thankfully turning it off and on again fixed it, but this means that currently I've found the pods to be 40% compatible with the Nestle Dulce Gusto machine, really very disappointing.

I appreciate coffee is a personal choice, but we are very happy with the taste of these capsules - the best I have found so far for the Dolce Gusto machine and will be sticking with these going forward. They contain 100% proper ground coffee with a medium-strong taste (Watch out for products from other suppliers that contain instant coffee, milk powder and disgusting flavourings) You get three different capsules - 2 of which are for shorter coffees (5oml) and one is for slightly longer coffees (90ml) - the latter being our favourite as you can get the same great taste but in a slighty larger cup. Note, the largest cup we use is 150ml - so probably what a coffee shop would class as a small cup. We also buy the 100% milk powder capsules to go with these as they create a nice creamy milk from the Dolce Gusto machine.

Tried the Black Donkey variety pack for the first time and I've been pleasantly surprised! Great value for 60 pods, and nice variety of flavours. I've tried a lot of Nescafe and compatible pods and been quite underwhelmed with many of them; I'm not really a fan of the sweetened Nescafe pods with added 'milk' as I like more bitter and darker coffee, so these are perfect for adding my own sugar and milk to. Good strong roasts and distinct aftertastes which actually reflect the name of the pods. Nicely packaged in individual bags within a branded corrugate box; Just enough packaging to keep them fresh and protected. Will definitely be buying more!

Je voulais changer des cafés que j'utilise habituellement avec ma Dolce Gusto. Ravie, 3 choix de cafés différents, tous très bons. Colis reçu très rapidement. Je vous les recommande ^^

Café pas trop mal. Mais je préfère une autre marque, je ne recommanderais pas.
